Nice one Ruffles, but I have to ask, why do you melt down the little nuggets? Are they easier to sell this way? Don't they look prettier as individual nuggets? I like to pour the nugglets all over my hand and feel the tiny weights.... but that's just me.

Slimpickens I'm with you I love to look at all the different characters of each nugglet (SDC finds)
The spectrum is vast , size versus character versus colour . My favourites are the ones found near reefs .
I have recorded each one and keep them on display in groups of the gully/diggings they were found . They say gold can be recognised like fingerprints . I agree and looking at the 30 odd gully's or diggings I have , it never ceases to amaze me how I can recognise where mine were found . Have a great year mate .
Cheers

Makes a bigger rattle in the jar now Paul
It can now be scanned with an XRF scanner providing an accurate
indication of the gold content Slim

This is why I melted my specimen (Over 3.5 Kilos)
Unfortunate is only turned into 17 Oz it exceeded my scales so the rest is next to my watch.

Re: First Gold Pour
Looks good Ruffles. I still have every individual nugget I have detected.
Although I wouldn't mind doing a gold pour. It would be nice to feel one solid piece. That's why I would do it.
But these pieces are destined to be made into three nugget rings.
That's been the plan from the start.
Maybe I just gotta find myself a nice size slug One day...
Cheers
