Look what I found.....
Hi Everyone,
Do I love the new 5000???? Yep I sure do
I mentioned a few days ago I would post a couple of pics if our first try out with the new GPX 5000 was successful.
We had a great time with it and whilst we would usually use the first time out to try the many different settings and coil combinations, Brad put us bang in the middle of a very neat little patch! My first afternoon bagged a personal best for me of about 38 nuggets. Weighing just a bit under 48grams. And the second day I don't know how many for 53.4grams.
Brad tried to suggest I try a few different settings, I was switching between two settings using Brads favorite 17 inch Nugget Finder coil, so i figured at that time if it wasn't broke don't fix it. I was too busy digging targets.
The largest bit weighed over 15 grams.
To say I am a happy girl is an understatement. Cant wait for the next time out beeping!

Look what I found.....
Thanks everyone,
Gollstar it was new ground, I would be ashamed of myself if I left that much on an old patch First impressions of the 5000 were that it seems stabler and quiet in fairly hot ground. The nuggets were quite shallow, the deepest only down about 8 inches. Time will tell if it can punch down to reach deeper nuggets. We will get out and do a bit of testing very soon. Using various other coils. We are very keen to rework a few old patches just to see if we can pull anymore out of the ground.
CJ I believe I would have found most of these with the 4500, perhaps missing the smaller ones dismissing them as groundnoise. Brad was working the lower part of the patch with his 4500. He did walk away from 3 targets he just couldn't find the very small ones (.1 or .2gms) It was the sort of ground that when you scraped the top, the hole just made so much noise it was hard to pinpoint the tiny nuggets. Those nuggets were retrieved by Brad this morning using the 5000. ( I didn't include his finds in the above photo)

Re: Look what I found.....
Well done Michelle. Braddles had better lift his game to keep up with you now.
i5.
PS. Picked up my 5000 yesterday, but I will not be able to test it out for a week or two. Very interested in your reports.

Re: Look what I found.....
Congratulations on the finds... always nice to see pictures of gold.
How did the 5000 handle red clay areas? Was it wet out there? Did you get any false signals or ground noise?
Thanks for posting the settings you used.

Look what I found.....
Hi Censored,
The ground was damp from recent rains in our district. But it wasn't a heavy clay area. Highly mineralized laterite ground. The machine gave a few false signals in the fine gold setting, while Brad was having a go with it. I found it gave off a lot fewer false signals than my 4500. Which was great.
Jig(i5) Brad did really well himself out at this spot. It was a great trip all round. You know how well prepared he is, again it paid off for us
