product review.. Davgolds pick
Firstly the usual disclaimer... I am not associated with Davsgold, I don't get any kickback or discount for recommending his gear, I don't wish to share a sleeping bag with him, not trying to curry favour nor even flavour his curry.
Picked up his pick last week, I got the biggest one with the longest handle, my theory being that I like a pick to do the work for me, not for me to work the pick.
I also purchased a couple of spare handles as they can be problematic to get out here.
Have used it a bit now, enough to wear the shiny black paint off the blade and the pointy end and in a couple of reasonably deep holes too.
It hangs and balances on the shoulder well which is how I carry it. Length is perfect for both swinging and as a seat when having a rest after a decent dig.
Although it's a big pick, weight is less than my other big pick which I basically only carried in the ute and went back to get when needed. This one however is perfect for all day carry, no fatigue at all.
The semi ovoid shape and thickness of the handle I can only describe as spot on for my average size hands. My other big pick, the handle is too thick.
The head to handle fit is rock solid, no movement at all and I can't see it becoming loose over time either. Most picks I've had to redo after a while and I've redone them to how Dave has done it to begin with.
Blade shape, size and curvature is spot on, moves a lot of dirt fast and with minimal effort. The pointy bit buries itself well in the hard stuff and a bit of leverage does the rest.
In short, highly recommended.

Re: product review.. Davgolds pick
G'day Steve
It was good to catch up with you the other day for a chat and deliver your pick, thanks for the product review. And your right there were no kickbacks or discounts and defiantly no sharing of sleeping bags.
I reckon you will have a long lasting and very useful piece of equipment to dig big holes.
Steve got the Large model "Supa Size" "Gold Digger Pick". Thanks again Steve.
cheers dave

G'day Kev
A few links and pictures,
https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/t23582-gold-digger-picks
https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/t23496-gold-digger-prospecting-equipment
And now a large one "Supa Size" pick added so there are 3 sizes now.
The Supa Size has an 850mm long Spotted Gum handle, and the pick head is 420mm from end of point to front of blade and weighs in at around 1.9 price is $140
Both the Supa Size and the Medium size for comparison.
Supa Size Pick

Re: product review.. Davgolds pick
thanks dave, the links didnt work, but i found them in the - commercial advertising section - of this forum.
i liked the medium size pick, as the digging end seems to be longer than my wacko picks which are currently 300mm end to end, and need a cold chisel welded on to get into the deeper holes. what would freight cost to get a medium pick to central (waterlogged) qld u reckon ... kev
