I have been using my 2300 in some hot ground and digging quite a few hot rocks. I generally use sensitivity on 3 threshold 4 I am putting up with a lot of noise even though I regularly use noise cancel and regularly ground balance. By turning the machine down to lower sensitivity would I gain depth or lose it. On some machines if you turn them up too high in sensitivity you will I fact lose depth the high mineralisation will virtually overload the coil and lose deep targets. Will running the 2300 on a higher setting eg 5 with a lower threshold 3 do the same ?

Hi Neddy, I use mine on sens 2,3,4 depending on how much noise is there with 1 or 2 lights on the threshold,. I set the sens so I can hear a target as I've found if there is a fair bit of noise from the machine I don't find as much gold or don't get any at all. I have found sens 5 to mask targets (for me) and I haven't done much with sens 1. However Nenad in his excellent vids uses sens 1 with success. (detecting Adelaide hills, jupiter creek etc.)
Hope this is of some help.

By one or two lights do you mean virtually no threshold.

No, on my machine 1 red light on and another flashing gives a nice threshold that I can clearly hear yet not so loud that it masks faint responses. I guess not every machine is necessarily the same in this respect. Shocked Sounds like you simply have your's cranked up a bit high and the noise is putting you off a bit.
Hmm... I'd watch Nenads vids on youtube again and if I still was having difficulty I'd do his little half day course. Or if in vic visit coiltek or some such. scratch
