G/Day Ben welcome to the forum.
The 2100 has a good reputation on large and small gold. Good luck with your detecting.

Welcome to the forum Ben. I am from Oberon way and have been detecting for a few years. I often go to Hill End detecting and recommend it as a good spot to find some gold. Smaller coils are the go (as there are many small pieces compared to bigger bits). You will often run into forum members at Hill End. Getting some tips from people you may meet is very valuable when you start off detecting IMHO.

Sofala and its surrounds is also good with free camping at Greens Point. Wish I lived so close to the gold as you..............
