Gold around Port Macquarie NSW? Empty Gold around Port Macquarie NSW?

Yes, you heard it right. In a local State Forest by gee. I wouldn't have thought that Gold could be found in such a location but a friend of mine who bought my detector off me, (I bought myself a Garrett ATX) and he found gold there, 3.5 grams of the stuff, with a Minelab X-Terra 705, which I could never find any gold with. My question is, if gold can be found so close to Port Macquarie then how many more State Forests and such have gold bearing deposits among their trees and trails?

I went to the State Forest site to get my fossicking license and clicked on the map for this State Forest and it came up as Tumut, more than 600kms south of where I am. So gave that up as a sick joke. Is there any place I can get a map of the local area a human can read and makes sense when read?

Cheers

Hi Dave

That is where I went and I clicked on the area map, as I said in my post, that took me to Tumut, and last time I looked, Tumut is down the Snowy Mountains.

Try looking under Information on Goldfields on this forum in the post "Historical Gold Mines in Google Earth" There is quite a number of mines in your area.
Use the link in Google Earth and zoom in on your location. I have given you a direct link to NSW locations below.

Truck driver man. I know a place that's a good start. Bit of work to find some but it's there. If you have any knowledge you could trade It would be appreciated.

G'day Stuart

The KML file is a google earth file that opens the waypoints in the file to view in google earth

It opens for me

If you send me a PM with your email address I will send you the file via email, it will make it easier for you to use.

cheers dave
