Novices get the Nuggets
Hi Everyone,
well it was our second time detecting and did we have luck !!!!!!
If you subscribe to GGT mag, the October issue has our story.
We dug up a 51 ounce or 1.6 kilo nugget of solid gold !!!
We were detecting for about 5 months with hardly anything to show for our efforts and it was the
last few weeks that we struck that lovely yellow stuff !!
To say we were over the moon is an understatement, it's a surreal feeling finding a ' biggie ' .
We have a gpx5000 . It was approx 2 feet down. It's craggy reef gold. And for a bonus the hole gave us another 84 grams of nuggets.
You gotta love this hobby

Thanks mate,
you're right when you say " stick with it " . We were pretty disheartened near the end of our time, before
we struck gold that is, and you could've bought the detectors for a song.

I read you were in Western Creek, and did no good! Just packing up now to head out there next weekend for a couple of days. It will be warming up now though.

Novices get the nuggets
We've read quite a few did really well there. Plus we saw some good finds when we were there.
Don't be put off by us getting nothing, remember we're only beginners.
It's a great place, we'll certainly go back and try out luck again.

Thanks mate. We probably won't see the likes again but it's nice to have it under our belt.
Even if we only get little ones we'll be happy, just like detecting and love the country.

Cinken,
Your story in GGT was a great read ! Congratulations on such a fantastic find. I bet you're still smiling
I was up there a few weeks back and it was 36° ; too hot for me. The numbers in the campground were dropping by the day,
Phil

Novices get the nuggets
Hi Jen,
Thanks for the congrats. It was a fluke of a find, just pure luck to have walked over it.
We can't wait to get back to detecting but gotta stay home sometimes !
For every little ( or big ) nugget we've found we've found hundreds of bullets, wires, metals etc.
But we'll be back after Christmas detecting again to be sure.
Cindy
