First 8 day trip out since day zero
Since stopping work I finally got out for an 8 day detecting run at various NSW locations. I managed 63 grams + a couple specimens containing a couple grams. I worked hard on mullock heaps to cross the 2 ounce line on the last day. Some of the nuggets are crystalline but are worn, you can see crystals and ribbing on some of them. Biggest piece is 11.4 grams
The Zed is going well. I find the Zed is incredibly quite at night time and will tune to a hum if tuned after 8pm. I think the daytime EMI from the sun etc gets to the incredibly sensitive Zed. Night time detecting where you think deep gold may lay is the way to go IMHO.
So while I am happy with the average for 8 days, its the week in week out result that I cannot do due to home commitments, weather etc. I hope to do a fair bit of detecting in the coming months and I will keep a tally and see how I stand in 6 months or so. Raining now, so I will put in a few hours doing research.
cheers Tributer

Re: First 8 day trip out since day zero
Good on you Tributer! Youve really hit the gate running! I would be over the moon with those results for 8 days! Love the leaf/crystalline look of a couple of them. Even with being a little worn I'd be hard pressed to part with those ones! Regards Richard

Tributer,
that's a good haul of nuggets. Some of the larger ones look like amalgam, very weird looking nuggets. Well done though.
Regards Axtyr.

Great going Tributer, A Good tally there. You are the first person I have seen to mention night detecting and how quiet the Zed runs, That question has been dropping in my mind while I have been home, Am going to put it to the test mid week and that ferrite thingy when back in the gold fields to see how it goes on a spot that's producing for me. ( Your night result was what I was expecting )
Cheers

Re: First 8 day trip out since day zero
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Ashley,I have put a post on the 7000 running quiet late at night in the 7000 section. I am keen to know that I am not just imagining how much quieter they run. I would also like to know if there is a validated reason why the ground noise/EMI is much less at night. Is it the earth blocking the EMI from the sun and/or is the ground quieter because the daytime heat excites the ground mineralization/iron, or does the 7000 like to run cold?
cheers Tributer.
PS. Looking forward to getting my first nuggets from Nth QLD in a couple weeks when I head up there for a few weeks detecting.

Nice gold Duck, hope it keeps flowing for you.
I have a theory about the EMI being quieter at night.......its called Woodstock

Re: First 8 day trip out since day zero
The sun emits constant electromagnetic radiation into space. It is through these heat waves of EMR,that bombard all things surrounding the sun,in turn affecting all forms of electrical reception/transmission,via EMI here on earth. This is one of the main reasons as to why, under direct sunlight we get more noise coming through our coils/detectors as compare to evening/night-time. Another reason why mineralization tends to peak during the hottest part of the day, causing an increase in ground noise,is because during clear skies and direct sunlight, the ground tends to heat up faster, causing faster movement of molecules/atoms to occur within the rocks/soil,in the form of kinetic energy. It is through this type of heating process, which in turn, creates higher levels of mineralization/ground noise,we tend to encounter from place to place.
This is the main reason why noisy ground during the day, will always be quieter to prospect over, during the cooling down period of night.
Cheers Kon.
