sd2200v2.. channel?
Hello guys i'm new on sd2200v2! I read to use channe 1 when i get too much noise on threshold but i'll lose sensibility and depth so the minelab recommended to use "both" channel for the normal use.. but.. what about use only ch2? Difference between use "both" and "Channel2"?

Re: sd2200v2.. channel?
HI Betagod,
You will notice that some targets make a rising pitch and other targets make a falling pitch. Then there are some that if only one channel is used will make very little pitch change, they are between the rising and falling pitch. Channel 1 is there so these targets that fall in to the "hole" in ch2 still make a good response in channel 1 and are still able to be easily found.
Basically, if you are able to run channel 2, then run in both channels. If ground noise becomes a big problem, so much so that you can't identify if a response is from a target or just another ground noise and you are ready to give up on an area because of it, use channel 1 only.
The other thing that will be useful for you(you hunt relics??) is to check the response in channel 2 and then in channel 1. You will notice patterns starting to emerge, for instance, in channel 2 a certain coin might give a falling response, while in channel 1 it gives a rising response etc.
Cheers Mick

So if i understand if i don't get a lot of noisy i run in "both" channel instead of channel 2 and if i get a lot of noisy i run in "CH1".. that's right?

Ok I thought so. I doubt that you will encounter noisy ground in Italy with your machine. The noise I speak of is due to the high mineral content in the goldfield soil that we have over here in Australia. The best thing you can do with the channel switch is to use it to try and guess what a target is before you dig it up, so listen to the response in either channel first before you dig.

Re: sd2200v2.. channel?
Here i got a lot of very high mineralization soil
Anyway i don't understand why minelab put the opportunity to choose only "Ch2" if "both" is better :/ ch1 is for noisy ground but why i can choose only ch2 if both is bettere?

Re: sd2200v2.. channel?
On the sd2000 and sd2100 the channel select switch was used to isolate the channels for the manual ground balance so you only heard the channel you were trying to balance.
I guess if they made it so the option was only both or ch1, someone would have asked "but why can't I select ch2 on it's own??"
The best thing you can do with it is listen to target responses in the individual channels and after awhile you will learn what some common items sound like in each channel before you dig them, which then you might be able to decide that the target is not worth digging...
