First youtube vid/trial
Nothing too exciting here people,
I have mounted a small spy camera to the shaft of my detector and while out at St Arnuad today I gave it a trial run, unfortunately no gold this trip, but a bad day in the bush is better than a good day at work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8WmeSNK6hU
Ignore the dates etc, I have no idea how to remove or set that, surprisingly the quality is far better than I expected.
Cheers

Hi GGPX,
Wow, great idea and nice attachment. Does the camera swivel? because it would be good to see your digg. It's good to see the colour of gold emerging from the soil.
Have you had any interference with the camera being reasonably close to the coil?
The next project...3D nugget cam..lol
Cheers goldenbrown...

Re: First youtube vid/trial
Thanks guys, The camera does swivel!! but because footage is not able to be viewed out in the field I didn't pick this up, as soon as I watched this at home I thought that swivelling the camera would be a good idea. Still photo's can be taken also, all is saved onto a micro SD card (I have 4gig)
No interference at all with the coil.
Here is some more info on what I have done.....
This is the mount on the shaft, the mount is a two piece type, this will stay permanately affixed to the shaft, although easily removed.
The other half of the mount holds the camera, Now I can see that some of our night prospectors will be interested because the camera I have chosen is also an LED torch.
The camera looses some quality in audio while the torch is on but the video side of things is ok.
For night filming you still get good quality as the torch provides good light. I do not have an example of this, but I will get some footage, I know this will be the next question.
The mount seemed to be best positioned about half way between the handle of the quick track and the coil, see below.
The camera/torch was purchased on ebay from Hong Kong for only about AU$45.
I also plan to take my sony full HD and small tripod in the backpack for a different angle on digs.
Cheers

Re: First youtube vid/trial
Good job GPX.
Camera, a bit cheaper at $31, but yes $45 with a mini sd card.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Flashlight-Spy-Hidden-Camera-Mini-DVR-720-480-s651-/250644336514?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Security_Equipment&hash=item3a5b910f82
A 4gb mini sd is about $14 or 8gb about $23 off fleabay.
A thought I had straight away was a bit of inner tube wrapped around the shaft under the mount- would reduce noise from vibration etc.
You need a scoop...!! painful to watch!
With the swivel bit, might be hard to get the shot your looking for without a view finder. What about attaching to your head on a hat? No good if your a canadian head flapper though!
Looks good though, chinese spy cams are cheap and work well by looks. Lookout CIA & ASIO !!!
(I am sure their (CIA & ASIO) systems will find this post now!)
Hello to the spook who gets to read/ screen this!!
Cheers Ferris.

I've had mine appart, thats the jigger!! Good price.
Don't expect the suction cup with the mount on the stem to work. HaHa what a joke that is, mine went on holidays..... to landfill.
That clamp is too big for the shaft, so I used the handy mans second secret weapon....electrical tape!!
Rubber may be a good idea.
Did I mention there is a patent on this idea.....
I'm gonna leave the other comments alone Ferris, we will get deleted AGAIN!!!

Re: First youtube vid/trial
Monoman, I have not ran this for long so not sure if what it states in the add is correct. I don't use the torch as a torch as it does not compare to my 3w cree.
It recharges via usb so without a laptop you would not be able to recharge while in the bush. (unless there is now a 12v to usb adaptor?, I have one from 240v to usb for a mp3 player.)
For other mountings such as a hat etc. This would be far too heavy!
There are other options for camera's, the spy pens are very good quality I was told today.
Could be easily fitted into a hat or into the harness, possibilities are endless.
Cheers

There is and I have had one for ages, apparently. Found one amoungst the kids things, I told them since they don't have a car I know a guy who could use that.
Glasses aye, Do they film what you are looking at? ....they would be no good for home movies if you were at the beach.
I had a go at swivelling the camera towards the dig on the weekend, what a pearla!!
As soon as I get onto some good stuff I'll post some more vid.
Cheers

Re: First youtube vid/trial
Ive been using my camera as a shaft mount for a while now, but have to get me one of those nifty little gadgets.
And yes you can get a 12v cig to USB, I have one to charge my explorist 500 GPS.
Chucked up a tube today I did a while back, just had to do a bit of editing tho, some language on it thats not been heard of b4, didn't want to spread it round as its not suitable for adults let alone minors.

Re: First youtube vid/trial
You will have fun this monoman, looking forward to seeing some of your finds.
I went over to Talbot on the weekend hoping to be able to show you some colour comming out, I was even taken to some known producing ground but neither of us scored any and I'm fairly sure you don't want to see any more projectiles being dug, we all see that enough without watching it on youtube!!
Cheers
