Re: GPZ 7000 40% deeper claim
I am a grey nomad . I made sure i bought the latest detector a 5000 before i retired. My plan was to detect as i travelled around to occupy me. Even though it is a hobby i still wanted to use the best machine possible, to maximize the limited not pain free hours i could detect. It was expensive but talked it over with the misses and we agreed it would be a worthwhile venture. Plan was to upgrade as needed. Thought upgrade prices would be a small hill to get over but instead had mountain dropped in front of us a mountain i cannot justify to climb . I think a lot of grey nomads will be in this exact same position. Minelab seemed to be interested in the growing grey nomad market, but i reckon this path will kill most of that. If it was 40% cheaper, yes i would have one already. From my position i hope the zeds a dud and i still have the best detector around.

Re: GPZ 7000 40% deeper claim
I had a brief look at a Zed today.
Yes I feel it would be getting heavy after an hour or so.
I cannot see 10.7 grand in it.
And it appears to be a Low tech version of the 3030.....The Zed does not have the sophisticated signal processing and displaying ability of the 3030.
Yes it does detect gold very well.Would I buy one if I had the money to throw away?? Probably.

I just bought shares in Minelab. Even if the 7000 is a dud, reckon they have enough presales to score a good result at financial years end so shouldn't lose and if its a winner should have made enough profit on the shares to buy one.

Re: GPZ 7000 40% deeper claim
Petereau, you may well still have the best detector around...I'm a grey nomad as well <Goldfinger>....your detector will not stop achieving the results it was designed for...it is a proven machine worldwide...the 7000 I suggest is far from proven worldwide...don't worry and continue to enjoy your hobby mate...hernia free......Hoo Roo

Re: GPZ 7000 40% deeper claim
everyone is stating 40% deeper.
if every one read minelabs claim, " UPTO " 40 % deeper ".
1 % is up to 40% deeper.
everyone expects that every situation or condition will be 40 % increase in performance.
some of you will say what do he know , being his first post .

gee how this site has changed over the years .
I have been detecting since the sd2100 days , and have got a gpx 5000 fully modded .
I know that a lot of people hate the subject of modded machines , or the guy that mods them .
I am extremely happy with it and that is where I will leave the subject on modded detectors.
I am off to w.a in 2 weeks time , for 8 months of detecting

Welcome back
Yes .... I know what you mean about the 40%
Well we think it does go up to 40% and past. Just have to get it over the right ground,
And gold.
We had our sd2000 modded way back.. We could then get all the gold we were missing, that a sd2100 was getting.
Good luck over in W.A.
We can't wait to be on the road again, heading over as well.

Re: GPZ 7000 40% deeper claim
Let's keep some of those old traditions, back boweboi. All that's important is that you are happy with your detector, as that's what gives you confidence and that equates to success out in the field, and that's what it's all about. Probably a good idea to leave it at that for now...best wishes for your upcoming WA trip.

Please guys, lets not get into a verbal row over modded detectors. Its like anything we do in life, you're either happy with the modification,or not. After all, you'r the one paying for the mod. End of story.
Cheers Kon.
