Thanks oneday for setting us straight on confirming the confirmation of the confirmed price, at least that will stop speculation over prices, do you have confirmation of the release date. Now the price has been released have the confidentiality clauses been lifted on the performance of the 7000 for the testers

as for the release -- no no one has that info apart from minelab and that hasnt been released

As for the info of the testers then JP will get notification prior to the dealers and just keep an eye out on this forum or DWAG.

there seems to be a lot of speculation and inuendo but its generally hearsay..

It's all relative ! A little extract from our Finders Keepers friends in the west :

"Ok so we now know the price, here's something to think about. Back in 1995 when the SD2000 was released it cost $4300 and the gold price was around US $380/ Troy ounce. So you had to find about 12.5 ounces to break even.
If the GPZ7000 is around $10000 at todays gold price(US $1230) you need to find about 8ounces to break even.
I know there are heaps of factors to consider when deciding to buy or not.
If the GPZ goes up to 40% deeper on all sized gold at all depths than the 5000 well....
Could be a fantastic time to be on the Goldfields, actually anytime is a great time to be on the Goldfields!" Here Here !

But i dont think we will encourage Minelab to match the 1995 equation !

Cheers

Ash,
Finders Keepers figures might be right, but let's not forget there's been a hell of a lot more detectors over the ground since the SD2000 Crying or Very sad
It's a lot harder to find 8 ounces now than it was to find 12.5 ounces back in 1995 Shocked

At $10,700 for each detector there's a healthy profit to be made by minelab and the dealers. Wow.......Shocked

The profits and the champagne will be flowing......... T21

Yes it would be interesting to see how many millions were spent on research and development and how many detectors they would need to sell just to break even

Hry Guys 'n' Gals,
Do you reckon we've talked up the price, or held it down??

I was sorta thinkin' "if everybody had shut up, it woulda been say 8.5k...... but no, we mouthed off as what we would pay an ML took our advice..."

OR!!!

Did ML think we should sell this for 15k, and we've talked them down??

Whaddya think?? Question

AS IF Minelab would base their pricing on what is posted on a forum. Get real.

They knew the price well before we imagined we had something to do with it.

I for one am glad there will be fewer Zed's sniffing around. The 5000's have vacuumed the gold fields...

I was going to Buy Two, But I'll have to have a rethink about that now, T10

There's still plenty of opportunities left in finding gold with the 4500/5000/2300/&older or a gold pan, since there's still lots of ground out there.

I think the price is very high, but it is based on what the USA market will pay. Note how much the Aussy dollar has dropped in the last 6 months. $10,700 AUD equals about $8328 US which I think the Australian price should be.

So that's about what they'd be paying for one in the USA,

I reckon the price is more to do with the middle east/north African market.
Minelab have recently opened a big distribution outlet in Dubai.
A region where there is both gold and gold cash.

Geoff
Mate that does not make to much sense to me, I may be missing the big picture!!!!!!!!!

GPX5000, 4 years ago cost $6500 correct me if I am wrong but our $ was near parity wasn't it ???? so by your logic the price we would pay for a GPX5000 today should have increased due to the drop in value of the AUS $ to this current low rate?????

To me they just set the price to what they speculate people will pay & mate people are paying for them.

I believe Minelabs mentality to extract every last $ for each detector is not a sound practise, more volume = more profit over the long run, but in saying that it is working for them currently, however their profit margin is shrinking, these are just my views & should not be viewed as right or wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't there a big bust of fake GPX5000s in Dubai not that long ago?
