SDC 2300 Beach Hunting
Hi Members
Sorry if this topic has been covered before but I am asking for some advice for a novice.
I have a SDC 2300.
Simple question, would my SDC be a suitable detector to get out there on the beaches and have a wander around, I only have one machine at the moment but I am keen to get to the beach and have a go on the weekends with my son.
Can anyone advise on suggested settings for the SDC, would it be best to run in salt mode ?
I would only be walking the beaches over here in WA, don't want to get into the surf or water, too many sharks for me !!!
Detecting sure has bought me and my son a lot closer, I threw $20 worth of gold coins in the backyard and let him loose with the SDC, eventually he found them all and it was fun and enjoyable for him, now every weekend he wants to go to the parks and beaches and detect, sure beats sitting at home playing with a I Pad, he drives his mum up the wall with "hey mum" look what I found today, ok it is only some ring pulls and a few dollars from the local park ect but he is keen as mustard to get out there, only problem now is I got to keep up with him.
I ask myself why am I on digging duty and he's got the machine in hand, something is wrong here !!
Thanks Members, look foward to your replies.

G'day Deepabeepa
Dry beach sand and damp beach sand the SDC2300 will work with about the same settings as you use in the parks etc. When you get down onto the wet beach sand along the waters edge you will need to change your settings and then try salt mode and make a few fine tune adjustments.
You may be better to post the topic out in the general section of the forum as more people may see it there.

Dave
OK thaks for that. Went for a wander today with my son to the beach, ended up running it is normal mode, just as I would in a park, no real problem at all, once got near the water edge I flicked it to salt mode and it settled down a lot. Found $2 and loads of ring pulls but still had a great day out with my 12 year old son.
He is going to be a detectorist for sure, he loves it, drives his mum nuts but he really does enjoy it and it brings us closer together, sure beats sitting at home infront of the telly.
Thanks Dave, stay safe mate.
