Re: SDC2300 Quick 5 minute knuckle protector
cause they are waterproof, you could use the drfain pipe to capture water as well! Great simple idea mate.

Crikey Deutran I cant tell where the detector starts and the plumbing finishes looks like you could channel your own water supply in a downpour are you a plumber by any chance, 10 out of 10 for inventiveness and in the end if it works that's a win eh

Protectors
I use a cutaway section of pipe to protect the knuckle as in your model but attach with Bluetac .I've used it in wet and rainy conditions without a problem ,I use a much smaller piece of pipe to just cover the knuckle .

Hi deutran,
What diameter pipe did you use for the knuckle protector? The knuckle on my SDC is starting to show some serious wear...

Re: SDC2300 Quick 5 minute knuckle protector
Hi everyone
I had a bit of pvc pipe placed on my sdc2300
Worked a treat, but when i finshed detecting for the day, i was asked where are the cable ties.
Whoops lol
Its was a wonder that the pvc piece was still there. or was it
I am pretty rough on my sdc2300
So brought one of these, its still on my sdc2300 ready for this season's detecting as well.

I chose to use smaller 40mm diameter PVC when I did mine last year. That way the zip ties are out of the way and you can't wear them through. You just have to cut a little bit to allow for the raised section. Just bend it out slightly and it works great.

Re: SDC2300 Quick 5 minute knuckle protector
Top job and great ideas. We have just had our 2300 into miners den in adelaide and they replaced the eorn out knuckle with a new one under warranty. I thought that was very good of them. Will be putting some pvc on the machine before it goes out again as the knuckle just seems to get hammered. Thanks guys

sdc 2300 knuckle protector
All good ideas Deutran. How do you attach the poly stand to the detector cover, as it's not quite visible in the photos? Cheers. xmas tree.

Re: SDC2300 Quick 5 minute knuckle protector
Hi Xmas Tree
There's actually 2 cable ties right around it if you look closely.I drilled some holes in the Poly.

Re the 23000 stand
Why did you use the 90mm length of the 75mm diam pipe plus the half pipe screwed together, rather than just cut the 75mm pipe in half and plastic tie that to the 2300. Having the half pipe section to me would give the detector more stability on the ground ie only 75mm/2 off the ground rather than 75mm + 75/2.
Note am not an SDC user, its for SWMBO. Her 2300 cover came with a stand that fitted into the end of the cover nearest the shaft and it was uncomfortable to use.
Thanks for your idea and appreciate your input.

Only reason was I've got a bad back and needed it as high as possible so you are correct about stability.Cheers.
