SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Enough of the ranting and raving let's get down to the nitty gritty.
PLEASE anyone with actual finds with the SDC either gold, relics or junk can we please see some photos of your finds. Alternatively if you've actually used one and found nothing please let us know as well. Hopefully we can establish a creditable record of how it's performing out there.
HOPEFULLY the discussions on the pros/cons of the unit can be left to fester in other posts, lets see some concrete results rather than just rumours and fiction .... remember a picture is worth much more than mere words.
Here's hoping, T.
ps will post photos of my finds as soon as I work out how to resize them (alas only junk).

First 2 hour outing
Results of 2 hours in Taradale, not a renowned nugget area but anythings worth a try.
Could only stand 2 hours in the drizzle that was falling.

Today's nugs ranging from 0.07-0.6, 3.9g total. From the surface down to 10". Please don't tell the dept, as I'm pretty sure most are (flychit) and should have thrown back Sorry Lee was too busy digging gold to stuff around with a video camera

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Four hours around Creswick, windy as hell, luckily just branches not trees coming down, the coins are not for size comparison, they were detected around an old shaft that someone must have been working.
No gold, just showing it as it is .......

Nice gold there even for flychit Not after your exact location or anything but interested to know what state to compare who's finding what where.

SDC Actual Finds
Yesterday was the 8th day out with the SDC 2300 and it has found gold each time, as well as numerous bird shot and tiny pieces of tin. We are prospecting in WA with GPX 5000's, but felt that the 2300 might recover a little more yellow from the many areas that had produced multiple pieces of small gold in the past, but now seemed to be exhausted. I have photos of the first 2 day's gold finds, but can't master the art of loading them.
The gold statistics are:-
Day 1 - 6 for 1.5 grams
Day 2 - 10 for 2.0
Day 3 - 4 for 1.5
Day 4 - 4 for 1.6
Day 5 - 9 for 1.9
Day 6 - 2 for .9
Day 7 - 6 for .9 (1/2 day)
Day 8 - 4 for 1.5
The largest piece was .8 and the smallest .1. The targets(gold and junk) were checked on the first 2 days against the 5000 with a 12 x 7 NF coil (smallest we have) and 70% could not be heard by the 5000.
Very satisfied with the total of 45 for 11.8 - detector 10% paid for! The GPX will still be the tool of choice for general prospecting, but in areas where we cannot get any more, a run with the SDC might save us from a "goldless day".

Thanks - looks to be going well over there & Qld too. Been picking up a few bits in "goldless" SA too by the looks of Nenad's vids.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Here's a pic of the 3x small specks that I got when I tested the SDC that I mentioned in my initial report.
Found on an old surfacing on the Turon, highly mineralized, flogged to death by me and many others.
Humble beginnings I know, but I would have got plenty more if I didn't spend so much time testing and traveling from spot to spot to perform the tests I wanted to perform to prove its performance.
All easily heard targets that the GPX 5000 couldn't pick up.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
It's making me think about selling my GP3000. I was considering a GPX4500 but for similar $$ I'm thinking this might be an easier option.

Here is today's effort, 26 nuggets in 3hours. Probably would have got more but it took me a while to find some once out of the hole. Thank god for my girly scoop

Mix of both with and without ... I wear hearing aids and glasses to then have headphones on as well can be awkward (hearing aids are around $2500 each to replace and I've lost one previously).

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Those are today's finds. Interestingly my mate with his 5000 and a 14" coil got 1 piece (not in the photo) for 0.2 grams.
I see why you lift heavy fings now.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
I've been running on the top setting (5). Halfway through yesterday, I reduced that to 4 as it ran better on the ground at that. I also used the headphones and what a %$^#^% pain they are. That is about to change!! Nothing in the way of ground noise so far, and 2 hotrocks. The 5000/sadie coil is as good for most bits I've checked except the real small ones, but in Fine Gold, the 5000 also gets numerous hot ground and hotrock signals. The SDC is a good checker of those for your mates to help them out.
Total so far in 32 nuggets for about 14.7 grams (smallest so far is 0.15 at around 3"+ in a small gully) for about 9 hours of fun. I say fun because it sure doesn't seem like work. Cheers.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Sorry folks...i cant resit this......
I found some nuggets today, one of which may take SDC owner/operators a life time to find in equivalent weight.
It was point 3 grams.
Not going to tell the other sizes, that would be just wrong of me.!!

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
50 grams of SDC 2300 gold from California and Alaska, USA. Keep hunting small stuff and you will probably find some big stuff too. Finding a little gold regularly can help keep you focused and listening closely. The weight of the little ones does add up.
(and yes, it bangs hard on those big nuggets)
The bigger nuggets and those to the right of them are from Alaska, and the ones to the left of the big nuggets are from California.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
Reno Chris and others, i was just taking the p!ss.
I can't think of a better brand or model detector that would compete with the SDC for smallish gold. My only gripe is....there's not enough 4500/5k user's making the switch.
and i wasn't grinning like Dr Evil when i said that.

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
I made a goof on my original post - the rough ones are from California, the smoother ones are Alaska.
Narrawa - My SDC is a tool to go with my other detectors. I cant see ditching my 5000 for my SDC 2300, but cant think of a better machine for a new chum who has not worked with a metal detector before who wants to get started detecting in Australia. Should help grow the grey nomad legion even more!

Re: SDC 2300 ACTUAL FINDS
What can I say but anytime you want me to show you how to find small gold on your old patch with the 4500 or 5000 give me a call
we must just do a good job on our patches
If you are finding that many bits and the sizes you are posting then you had not done you patch to good in the past or was it you just spent the time looking for slugs and not using small coils and listening for the crumbs.
We are not finding the 2300 straight out of the box that great yes picked up gold and buck shots but the audio is not making the nuggets jump out at you that's for sure still got to try it now with the amp/mod and open speaker but if happy look out there will be a 2300 for sale for $3600
with the bits it found.
These bits here are a lot smaller then what has been showing up on here with the 2300 and these bits were found with the 2100 and 8" coil
we must just do a good job on our patches
