External Speaker Recommendation Minelab GP3000
Can anyone recommend the best affordable speaker for a Minelab GP3000? Also do I require a booster or can I get away with a standard clip on speaker box? Any leads appreciated!

Re: External Speaker Recommendation Minelab GP3000
Hi wapa_roo, most detectors are designed to be used with headphones and thus don't have any amplification when it comes to the extra power requirements of a speaker setup. Even the latest GPXs don't have any amplification inside the actual detector box, but rather use a specifically designed "booster" system inside the external battery box, so to answer your question, you will need a booster if you intend to run a speaker/s. Miners Den and I'm sure Coiltek too sell speakers for about $25 a piece that should do the job just fine. As far as a booster is concerned, I used a Super Sound DETacc on my SD and I still do on my GPX, which is a fairly cheap and yet quite good booster.

hi wapa
coiltek also do a speaker/booster combo that runs on the detector battery instead of the 9volt battery (cheaper in the long run to operate), they work great on all sd and gp machines.
it does not like the gpx machines though, seems to get a hum in the back ground on the newer machines

Re: External Speaker Recommendation Minelab GP3000
Thanks TM, Appreciate the lead the detector battery version sounds good to save on batteries. Thanks for the heads up and advice, appreciate it. Had a bit of a search around and the only ones I've found are old expired ebay sales. Does anyone know if you can still get these combo speakers from anywhere to suit the GP3000? I'm yet to try Coiltek shop as yet though will give that a go today as well. Ta, Wapa
