conglomerate
Hi All,
About a week ago I was detecting and got a signal and dug up some conglomerate,i think that's what it is called, which gave off a signal,I thought it was a hot rock ,
composing a red ,yellow soil texture bits of rusty and white quartz, large and small.
After breaking it open I still got a signal on 1piece, and crushed and panned it.
To my surprise found a .1gram nugget .
The rock was about 7" in diameter and just under the ground.

Re: conglomerate
Gotta watch that conglomerate bloody conglomerating all sorts of stuff up
Did you pan the whole lot of it or just the piece that gave you the signal. If not pan it all & see if there is anymore finer stuff in that there conglomerate.

So far ihave found 3 more tiny specs but hope to borrow my friends dolly to crush some more, still exciting though

Re: conglomerate
LOLOL I'm a true Aussie "stirrer" ... toss that detector, grab yourself a good transportable dolly, a couple of pans, and start really looking for gold. You've probably been walking over heaps of fine stuff, in the search for a couple of little bits of "gold gravel"
For the price of a GPX5000 you could completely set yourself up with a dry washer, a really top-knotch highbanker AND all of the associated bits and pieces that you could ever need ...... and STILL HAVE CHANGE!!!!
I have NEVER come home from a trip without SOME gold
