SD 2200v2 - Discrimination Empty SD 2200v2 - Discrimination

Post  MikeF42 Mon May 10, 2010 7:50 pm

Hi, (from the new kid on the block) I have read the discrimination posts on earler models used and its relevance for the 2200v2. I am confused!!

Am I correct in saying that AM is the ONLY setting to use when chasing nuggets (initial settings)?

I do find discrimination confusing having graduated from X-Terra 705!

Many thanks,

Mike in SA

G'day MikeF42.

To cut it short the all metal mode is the safest to use, when specifically chasing gold nuggets or gold specimens. Not only for the 2200v2,but when using any pulse detector including the GPX4500. No discriminator to date is 100% accurate especially when used in conjunction with pulse detectors.
If you intend working very trashy ground with a DD coil, put it in discrimination mode, after ground balancing. You'll lose no depth, and most of the larger trashy items(rusted steel/iron items) will be effectively blanked out within the 4 inch mark, saving you a lot of wasted digging time.
As with all new toys you'll have to play around with it a lot, digging many junk targets before you can become confident enough
to say that this target is definitely junk.

Kon61,
Thank you very much for a clear and concise response. I will now do as you suggest!! I am sure there are other questions, such as the Boost Switch! I run around on Deep - ever hopeful!
regards
Mike
