Re: known detector locations in the west
Gday Bluebus
Research is always the key to successful prospecting, and there is a huge amount of information available if you know where to look, its for this very reason that I have always recommended that people get there hands on copies of gold and ghosts and the like as they will provide you with thousands of areas that you can start at, fair enough they may be flogged in some cases but once you have the confidence and an idea of what the gold bearing areas of WA look like then you can venture further afield from there.
The cost of a venture from the Eastern states to WA is high already with the cost of fuel and preparation, but without prior information on where to go you are running blind and can easily simply drive past areas that will produce good gold for you.
As you dont have any experience here in the West it makes sense that you just start from the most known areas such as Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Laverton etc, there are mines dept offices and prospecting supply places there so you can also get information on local spots you can try until you have a better idea of the lay of the land.
Maps of all these places are readily available and cheap, they can be bought online or from the above mentioned shops, a lot of the known gold producing areas are clearly marked on them and you should be able to find your way about and possibly onto some gold, forget the idea of looking for new patches on a first trip, concentrate on getting to know the place and hit the tried and tested spots first, at least if you are getting bits and pieces it will keep up the spirits and help pay for some of the fuel costs.
Anyway good luck and happy hunting.
cheers

Re: known detector locations in the west
Hi Bluebus
What made you consider Sandstone?, there are many places that you will pass through to get to Sandstone that will produce gold too, there has been a lot of information flying about on the Sandstone area so my guess is that the area has been well worked over the last couple of seasons.
cheers

Yeah there is a topic on this forum that explains how to use tengraph and get info from it. Just put tengraph in the search on the top right and it will come up.
