Is there anybody who knows if you can just buy the quick track button for the GPX series instead of the whole handle assembly, cheers

Hi NF
I recommend that you carry a spare handle in your kit as I have broken many a handle (way more than 10) both the button and the handle its self is prone to failure.
I would repair the one you have but I would also carry a spare.
I also change the armrest strap button thingys over to stainless bolts/nuts/washers as these are also prone to failure in the field.
Nothing worse than being in tha middle of fing nowhere and not having a spare.
Best to be prepared.

Quick track button - Quick track button Empty Wiring question.

Post  bristlehound Fri Dec 13, 2013 4:48 pm

Hi!! Anybody got any clues as to how the Jaycar buttons wire up?? I bought one to replace a broken original on an old quick track set-up to use as a spare. I tried dissecting the old switch to see how it was connected up but couldn't get it apart so I cut it off. When I stripped the cable back, there were 4 wires inside it, (Yellow, blue, black and white). The Jaycar switch has 2 terminals.  Shocked
Any advice from someone in the know, as to which goes with which and what goes where would be truely appreciated.
Thanks,
Max.  scratch

Hi Max,

Don't know which wires go where, but I know how you can find out. Grab a multimeter, see which wires are connected to each other(continuity check). They will be in pairs, so connect the continuous pairs together.

Thanks Mick. I'll give it a try. I imagine once I've got the pairs sorted, it should probably not matter which terminal each pair is connected to. I guess depressing the switch just connects the pairs to each other.
Cheers,
Max.

Spot on Max  Cool
The reason 4 wires are used is for extra strength.

OK! Done that!
For future reference, looks like Black and Yellow are paired as are White and Blue.
Thanks again for your help Mick.
Cheers,
Max.
