Re: What a reef!
Wow, that would be amazing to see. I suppose this is what the old timers would have seen at ground level in all source areas. Would love to stumble across such a find. Top post Gold Miner, would anyone else have pics of similar finds along their prospecting journeys that they would share?
Cheers Black Al.

Re: What a reef!
I live in the Terrritory and have done for nearly 40 years,
One of my mates a truck driver used to work at Granites carting ore, in triple trailer road trains, one day they got new orders that they should not heap their loads, that no ore be left on the sides of the tippers, that ALL loads be tarped carefully, they also noticed that EACH truck was being followed by a four wheel drive with two men in them.
My mate found out later that they were carting ore that was at the time giving TWO OUNCES to the Ton with the road trains carrying 115 tons of ore at 600 dollars US an ounce, this petered out two weeks later but they were loading 24 hours a day and there were a dozen trucks.
Now I don't know how many loads the trucks were doing a day but they must have found a huge amount of gold in those two weeks!

Re: What a reef!
I think thats what the early reef miners used to call being on gold
There was a story doing the rounds of a big find in an open cut in WA a few years back.
Apparently,a wall was drilled and blasted, with the drillers knocking off for the arvo before the dust could settle.
Next morning, the Dozer opperators were called into the office to sign a confidentiallity agreement before they started for the day.
The blast had revealed a 100ft long wall of gold,15ft high and 3 inches thick
