Is detecting bullets a failure
Hi all
This is my first ever post on a forum so hope iv'egot it right
Just started detecting in March, i managed to break loose from the wife for a couple of days on a recent trip to Victoria (Bendigo) and took my Eureka gold out for the first time. No gold but lots of bullets, am i doing something wrong, i was searching in all metal mode and the ground seemed very noisy.
Question: Is finding bullets a failure in my technique?
Regards Braggy

Hi Braggy,
gold is a metal so finding any metal is step in a right direction.Gold is hard to find and if you look in members find section most of it is in sub gram categorie.
Our goldfields are mineralized consenquntly noisy.
I find early mornings and late in a day best for detecting -quite quiet.
Keep positive and pay attention to any change of treshold.
Good luck.

Re: Is detecting bullets a failure
G'day Braggy.
Is detecting bullets with a metal detector a failure? certainly not.On the contrary. If your finding bullets or should I say bits of lead, your well on your way to understanding the sweet sound of gold as compared to rusted iron or steel.Gold because of its superior density or weight,if solid in form will sound off better to a metal detector, than lead of the same size will, buried in undisturbed ground. So don't despair, for your most likely doing everything right in finding lead, just keep on looking.
Cheers Kon.

Reasurrence
Thanks Golden and Kon
Good to get some positive feedback will keep trying, the frustration was far out-weighed by the anticipation of digging each target.
Kind regards Braggy

Re: Is detecting bullets a failure
I purchased a 1/2 gram nugget that I keep in a plastic vial, and throw that on the ground every time I get a little frustrated with the detector and the sounds going off on all sorts of other targets - helps me hone in on what gold should sound like. Its usually a much more subtle sound than the other targets. Not a bad investment to help you understand what gold will sound like...and yes very similar to lead sound!

Re: Is detecting bullets a failure
Keep at it Braggy, your next target could be gold.
There are many here who can not explain why we sometimes get a signal and before digging we silently say to our selves, "Got one."
