Latest and largest find.
[img][/img]
Short story
Found this nugget up against a tree and under a root. Weighs 23.3 g and is my biggest yet, previous biggest 8.1 g.
Long story
My neighbour decided he wanted to join me prospecting for gold, so I found a detector within his budget available from someone I knew GP3500. On Sunday we went to the Triangle to collect it and to have a day out prospecting with the seller (quite a well known guy) We had found nothing up until the last hour, I spotted an interesting spot further up and suggested we go check it out, using my 4500 and commander 11" mono. I got a strong signal beside a tree, dug down about 6 inches and got to several roots, scraped away around them a bit, checked with my pin pointer and it seemed to be under a root. More digging I finally pulled out a 23.3 g nugget. Unfortunately during the dig I did hit the nug with the pick and marked it.
Finally cracked the 10g mark. Next is the ounce mark.

Good onya Cams, that's 2/3 of an oz. It's a beauty of good looking nugget and I wouldn't worry about the pick-hit, that just gives it more character. Goes to show, they're still out there, hiding under roots, behind rocks or just out of view. Great find!!!

Re: Latest and largest find.
Thanks all. Last trip for 2 days was unsuccessful, Rained out on second day. Next Sunday should be the next trip. Spending time trying to find unlikely spots, and not just goldfields.

That Cams, is a cracker. Well Done. Are you going to Laanecoorie this year?
I have gone nugget less for my last few outings. Gets disappointing after a while.

Not sure about Laanecoorie yet. If I do go it will be just the girl and me this time and probably tenting it. Are you going?scjonrob wrote:That Cams, is a cracker. Well Done. Are you going to Laanecoorie this year?
