Gold bearing ground
G'day there
Some may know that I used to live in WA where if ironstone and blackened quarts or salt and pepper country ment this area should be explored more with your detector. I am wondering what sort of ground might contain gold in north Queensland. So any tips and hints would be great cheers and go the mighty maroons

Re: Gold bearing ground
Hi Chop, that will vary a fair bit as Nth Qld is a big area, if you can be more specific it might help.......(me to figure out where to go to get gold) ... no but seriously, send me the GPS coordinates and I will check it out for you
No! but seriously seriously it's a big country up here some more specific non specifics would be a start in helping you out with your request.

Re: Gold bearing ground
Hey Big Chop
I spoke to you a couple of times on the Dwag forum in chat, Where are you based?
In NQ there are a couple of things to look for, quartz (damn the stuff is everywhere in some area's), definitely Ironstone but it is a bit different here & not so weathered, look for geological structures, shears, faults, dykes etc, Contact zones between Granite & shist is good, red gravel & soil, grey gravel & soil, waterworn gravel is important, but the best indicator is "GOLD" my friend.
Let me know where you are as it would be good to catch up, I am the Vice Press of the "Townsville Metal Detecting Club" have a think about joining as we have an organised trip each month & there are a lot of guy's who can shorten the learning curve for you in regards to NQ.

Re: Gold bearing ground
Aint it funny how the people on the coast seem to go to the west and the people west seem to go to the coast
I'm not much of a fisherman myself but there is endless fishing to be done if that's what you want.
