Booster needed Empty Booster needed

Hi, I am new to this, with a GPX500 still a virgin. Despite the attraction of another 'Hand of Faith' I will be happy to start by finding small gold [or even 5 cents]. Castlemaine area. I am wondering with small gold if a booster or amplifier would be of assistance. I can still hear well enough [except when the wife calls]
Any thought would be appreciated
