Minelab 5000
Hi,
I was looking to buy a mine lab GTX5000, but, I have read that in a shoot out west of Cairns, between an Infinium and The GTX5000. The GTX kept giving false signals over hot ground. Can anyone verify this statement,
Cheers

Re gpx5000
Depends who was driving the GPx. Sounds like a garret dealer, that didn't know how to run the 5000

I would also be interested to know if the Infinium cracked ANY targets and if either found any Gold. I am always sceptical of any comparison/evaluation that is reported as they are usually real sketchy on methodology (or luck of the day) etc.
Just an observation - Phil

Minelab 5000
Hi Guys,
Thanks for responding. Apparently the shoot out happened between two family members. One was a Garret man; the other was a Minelab man. (I believe they were both experienced users) Each was convinced that their own detector was the best, so to prove it they went out west. The report was that with the Minelab the person did a lot digging on false signals. I am not sure if either was rewarded for their efforts.
Thanks
Seggs

Re: Minelab 5000
If it was a "GTX5000" then that was the problem, as Minelab didn't make that one, they make a "Minelab GPX 5000"
In any case it all depends on how you set up the machines as to how they will perform, a correctly setup GPX 5000 will not get a heap of false signals, it just won't happen and most people with one allready know that.
cheers dave

Re: Minelab 5000
I would be lucky (unlucky) to get more than 1 or 2 false signals per day with my 4500 down here in the hottest ground in Victoria. This story is

Minelab 5000
Hi Sorry it is a typo, should be GPX. Looks like it was indeed B.S. So now I am faced with a dilemma. I have good reports about the 4500 as well as the 5000. Is it worth spending the extra dollars for the 5000
Cheers

Hi Seggs,
The 4500 will pick up large, medium, small, tiny gold. (In my case, I once wasted 15 minutes searching for a .04gr )
The 5000 will pick up large, medium, small, tiny, and flysh!t gold.
Now you gotta look in the mirror and ask yourself the question, "Seggsy, mate, do you really wanna waste your time picking up that flysh!t? And before anybody states "It all adds up" I will ask the question; " It all adds up to what"?

Re: Minelab 5000
G'day Seggs,if those guys doing the comparison were serious they should put a vid of the test on Youtube with an independent witness
There are many variables which can affect the result, such as coil size, gain settings etc..but i might be a bit biased coz i use a 5000 and i LUV IT !!!
Cheers...Dave
