Had an oportunity to pick up this coil (New Dark Grey spoked one)at a good price last week.Wasn't really looking for this one but with so many good reports thought it would be handy.Tried it out over the last 2 days and its just superb.A real eye opener and a pleasure to use.Notibly low EMI and very sensitive,a real credit to NF.

I have used the same coil and found it to be quite good, although I sold it and replaced it with the 14" round version, I am not a big fan of eliptical coils and found that it was a bit over sensitive, this can be a bit of a disadvantage in noisy ground and that it had a tendancy to kick back if you were touching rocks etc during the swing, also finding myself constantly pushing it back to level with my foot which I found distracting.

My mate uses one on his 4500 and had done really well with it, very rarely does he take it off and although I mainly use the 11" minelab commander mono and the 14" advantage mono, we are usually on a par with our finds.

It is actually a very good patch hunting coil, light weight, sensitive, good ground coverage, great depth, and you can swing it all day, it is very well matched to the 4500, it you are looking for an all round type of coil and like the eliptical coils then this is a good choice.

Thanks for your reply stayyerAu
As with you I also am not a big fan of the ellipticals,I like the outright depth of round coils, however in the short time of using this coil it has proven itself with surprising depth and sensitivity. Its a hard coil to take off as its so versatile.
How do you find the 14" mono?I was thinking of getting a NF16" or 18"adv round for the deeper stuff.

I like the 14" nuggetfinder round coil better than the eliptical one, I dont think it is quite as sensitive as the eliptical one but it seems a little less prone to falsing, and your right you always seem to get a bit more depth with round coils.

I had a nf round 16" sl coil ( light grey coloured one) which I used a bit, but not since I got the 14" round nf advantage one, I also have the 18" nf advantage mono coil which I believe is the best coil for outright depth, seems pointless having a 16" as well.

The 14" being your general use coil and then if you want to cover more ground whack on the 18", but it depends what you are comfortable with, if you are considering a 16" nf mono go for the advantage one over the sl one ( the sl coil was less sensitive than the advantage one ) there is not a lot of weight difference between the 16" and 18" advantage monos, but I generally use it in conjunction with the hipstick anyway.
