Around Brisbane and Gympie

Happy new year to every body..... Im a new boy in Brisbane that knows absolutely nothing about detecting so if my question seems stupid please bear with me.
As I am in brisbane I was wondering where near here apart from warwick would be a place to look for gold. What about Gympie I know that there is actually a working mine in the town, is there any reason why the areas around Gympie would not be a great spot to detect?

Hi Artrix

Get yourself a copy of "Gold Prospecting ' by Doug Stone, even an older version. It lists all the locations around Brisbane and all over Australia. Its a good way of starting your research. Doug lists 15 areas, including Warwick, Stanthorpe, Pratten, Bankers Hill near Toowoomba, Nanango.

Many maybe on private land, in creeks and on beachs, but by going for a drive and having a look, you will get an idea of what the gold fields look like, the areas nearby, and what you may need to access them. It will be all fun and interesting.

how did you save your google earths marks i have been trying to save mine in a folder but alas nothing seems to want to work for me,i want to save them and put them on a usb stick for safe keeping.any help would be much appreciated.

Detrackozi did any of the mines to the imediate west of Brisbane ie along nebo road and brookfield ever pay up with some decent gold or were they attempts that failed. Is there any where you can get info on the returns on these mines?

Those numbers are Eastings & Northings UTM coordinate system, just set google earth to UTM in the options and you will see the same sort of numbers.
