Coil problem Empty Coil problem

My favourite coil, NF 14" round mono, has just lost heaps of sensitivity, has to be very close to target to sound off. Plug appears to be ok, other coils work fine on my GPX4000.

Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated.

Regards Bill

There are no obvious cracks visible, I'll send it for warranty repair tomorrow.

Bill,
Does your could have a flat cable?
I had a 14" DD which developed problems and I found the wiring had broken where it enters the coil.
Contacted Coiltek and they advised me the repair cost would outweigh the price of a new one.
So with nothing to lose I managed to remove the bottom cover (carefully ran a knife around edge), unsoldered the joint, snipped a bit off the end of the cable, resoldered, refitted bottom cover & sealed it.
No problems, working again.
I have not used it on my GPX-4500 preferring to run monos.

Cheers
Peter

Thanks for the advice Peter, I'd try something like that if the coil was out of warranty. I sent it off this morning.
