As we all know the 1st zero to 30 inches has been done to death so either we need new technology or perhaps new timings to enable us to clean up what has been missed.

hi thegoldman, seriously what i would like is is a pending release date of the new machine about to come on the market.with updates on how final field tests are progressing eg depth, sensitivity, emi, ect.with field testers comming onto the forum for question and answer time.don,t know why all the cloak and dagger show?they have no comptition with pi !! instead of being treated like a mushroom kept in the dark and feed ****! honestly i reckon they would sell way more wheres the pr team for minelab????

Good idea blisters.Maybe management of this site could approach minelab and explain that this is a great platform to discuss the new detector.Especially in view of the fact that aurumpos review on the ctx3030 has had nearly 3500 hits.Cheap pr in anyones book.

Re: What recommendations/improvements would you like to see incorporated into the new gpx5500?
When the 2200 came out the 5000 was most likely already in prototype mode ! I would imagine that with all the research and cost to develop each model they would have to be released and would try to recoup all the cost and some profit as well for each model ! So until that magic moment occurs there will be no new model ! But that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist

Like all previous models they have been kept top secret until release date and sell record amounts without any trouble.
So they keep us in suspense and get all the pr they ever need. M/Lab have their own Field testers beginners and proffessionals.
Their products do work and are unsurpassed and walk out the door effortlessly. The proof is in the pudding, best products in the world .

No way on earth would they release a new detector that hadn't been on the ground first. They did it with the CTX3030, the profind, so guarantee the 5000 replacement will be too when it is to a beta tester stage. Have a look in the minelab 'Treasure Talk' section of their website, there are people in that list, coin and relic hunters, that had pre release versions of the CTX. Anyone on that list that list that actively pursues gold will have a pre release '5500' when it is ready. It is marketting essential that, JP or whoever will have a 'Treasure Talk' blog page talking up the 5500 and how great it is on the DAY it is released to the public, the story will be awash with how he has hunted areas that were hunted out with the 5000, areas of nail infestation, and how great it is that the GPS allowed him to track and 'virtually' chain and grid an area. An additional bonus is the fully submersible design and internal Li-ion battery allowing freedom to move and detect the deepest creek beds with snorkelling gear everyone will want one, but noone will get one cos even though they have been released none of the dealers will have stock because the US got stock first...
Not a chance that they would announce a release date as majority stock of 5000's will need to be moved before the new model is released as why would you buy a new 5000 when you can have the latest and greatest, and if the latest and greatest is coming out in 6 months or 6 days then I'll wait that long.

Re: What recommendations/improvements would you like to see incorporated into the new gpx5500?
Hello everyone, the changes I would like to see is a new generation of machine. Just like the change of VLF to PI! In a nut shell the 5000 is a glorified 2000, it is still a PI just with timings that allow the chance of finding smaller bits that were in the view of 2000! We have been paying for the same technology for over a decade now and the joke is on us? This is 2013 and a new machine is well over due, & not by putting a digital screen on a 2000 and calling it a 5000.
What I would like to see is a screen on the machine to show a view of the size, shape & depth of target. I know that a machine that only detects gold is a bit much so something that could give us an a a preview of what we are going to dig would be a benifit, especially if the a new generation machine can see well beyond our current window of opportunity.
A lighter and cord free system like the 3030( no cords exposed) intenal coil cord on the coil shaft, and wireless audio which doesn't need any aftermarket booster options, why do we still have to buy boosters? Shouldn't a new machine already accomadate this? And why are all fixed components wired with so much extra cable? Eg tracking button you have to wrap the wire around the shaft how many times? And what's with coil cords as long as they are? I still haven't met a person tall enough to have the coil cord fully extended, just put a little extra length for plug replacement.
Look minelab don't have any real competion so they have been taking advantage of us, so why can I buy a minelab machine form America cheaper then where it's made here in Australia?
A cheaper price tag that still makes them profit for their R&D should also be considered.
Look a Minelab machine is a top notch decision, but I think us Aussies deserve a little more!.
Cheers Al.

Re: What recommendations/improvements would you like to see incorporated into the new gpx5500?
There are some good good points there Al and some of those things would be an improvment, but I think you will find the machines are no longer made in Australia, but are made in Malaysia, as with nearly everything that was once made here, is no longer made here.
All the R&D is done here in Aus and the cardboard boxes are made here in Aus so I guess we can be thankfull for that.
cheers dave

Looks like the release of the new GPX5500 is not far off!
Miners Den are running a special deal on the GPX5000 right now, just got an email today!
My guess is we shall see the 5500 released just prior to Easter this year! Which is late March!
Keep your big nugget discoveries secret until then as Minelab will be paying big dollars for alleged discoveries with the new model for the Minelab times!

Re: What recommendations/improvements would you like to see incorporated into the new gpx5500?
Hi members, here is another idea that would be tasty for the new machine. Look at this link https://www.spaceglasses.com/ .
Now imagine if you could scan the ground and the image of the target is now visable in your glasses. Even better save all your previous finds and when you walk around you can see where your finds were found.
This would be a great improvement as an accessory, that way if you don't like the new technology you can still detect the traditional way.
Cheers Black Al.

Thanks Black Al, great to see them in action. I think we're just a bit off yet, having them being as common as our mobile phones, but it sure looks like they'll become a must-have fashion item of the future.
