Garrett GTI 2500 settings and use of standard coils?
Hi All,
My home made PI detectors didn't work, so i just bought a second hand Garrett GTI 2500 and have tried it out on the goldfields around Warwick and on the beaches at Redcliffe.
I bought the best detector I could afford and got this one at mates rates. Once I find a few nuggets I will upgrade to a Minelab 5000.
It is finding junk metal just fine.
I want to find gold with it so does anyone know what settings to use for the Australian goldfields mineralised ground.
It has an All metal mode but it also has a tonne of settings you can tweak and it allows manual ground balancing but I am yet to do that successfully.
I was also wondering if it is possible to use Coiltek coils with it? I have some that would suit a minelab, DD and Mono but the Garrett pinout appears to be different. I was hoping I could make an adaptor for these for it.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
regards,
grant

Re: Garrett GTI 2500 settings and use of standard coils?
Bump. Does anyone else on the forum use one of these detectors or have experience with them?
It is all I can afford right now so I want to make the most of it.
I saw a post on another forum of a fellow who found a 9.3 gram nugget with one. I think spannner_1974 was his handle does anyone know him?

Not my first choice for gold prospecting...........but some gold is second hand and can be found many places away from traditional gold fields (sandys gold and gem fields)......... it's an excellent coin detector.
For natural gold detecting in mineralized ground.
All Metal (also called "TAM" true all metal).........Fast track.......Auto track to condition.

A "better" Garrett dealer should know.

Thank you for that ivanll it is greatly appreciated.
I had seen the first couple of videos on YouTube but hadn't seen the All Metal video which also shows how to ground balance it that should be a great help out in the field.

Thanks for that Ivanll.
It came with the user manual but I did download the PDF off the Garrett website.
I got the later model without the treasure talk function.

GTI 2500 Dude !
I own a 2500 and using it in all metal mode with automatic ground balance to start with is your best bet , once you get a few hours on this unit and get the feel of this versatile green machine you will be impressed ! My GTI 2500 will find gold nuggets in mineralized ground and it goes deeper than any VLF detector I have tested in All metal mode much deeper than my Minetrash Eureka gold and my Minetrash XTERRA 70 , I have the treasure talk model and I like mine a lot !
