MINELAB SAFARI DETECTOR Empty MINELAB SAFARI DETECTOR

Post  G.K. Sun Nov 11, 2012 9:30 pm

G'Day everyone.
I am currently using a Gold Snoop Pro as a relic machine but a mate is using another machine when we go chasing coins in parks and he is leaving me for dead. While he finds coins I get bottle caps & ring pulls so I am contemplating upgrading to a Minelab Safari to try to catch up & actually find something worthwhile.
Does anyone here have any experience with one please?
What I want is a machine which can discriminate rubbish out, work on the beach (preferably in shallow water) and find me some pre-decimal coins & still be usefull for relic hunting or suggest another, in the $1k range, to achieve my aims. (It doesn't have to be a Minelab by the way.
I have an XT17000 which I shall hang onto for the forseeable future for gold hunting & while I know it is not a super dooper machine it is all I can afford for the moment.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Keith.

HI GK, I borrowed a safari for a time and found it to be simple to use and quite effective. I was using it to look for gold, it was not much good for this but would be quite good for coins and such I should think. I feel that it would take a bit of use to get to know it's habits but once you had experience I think you would be happy with it. If you have the cash I'd advise getting the E-Track as it is basically the same detector but has more adjustments. I haven't done any coin hunting really but I hope this is of some help. The Safari has the ability to notch out certain signals, this is a fascinating thing to behold and does work well. this should get rid of ring pulls etc.

I got the Safari & tried it out on a beach with far better results than I ever got with the Gold Snoop Pro (which gave me lots of enjoyment as an entry level machine.)
Looked at the beach here this afternoon, after work, but it was blowey & very few people there so waiting until monday to try it in a park.
Thanks for all replies to my original post. Cheers, Keith.
