Pro Pointer
The Pro Pointer was designed to locate coins, relics and jewellery, however it soon became apparent that it could handle high iron mineralisation and was sensitive to small gold (0.1gm and up) which made it handy when prospecting.
The Pro Pointer is a no BS pinpointer that is tough, easy to use and does not require constant tuning and is a very handy piece of gear to have in your kit (even if it is detected by your big ML coils).
If it is sounding off on your hot ground you can get better results by holding it about 1/4 inch from the ground and then turn it on, by doing this you will get much better depth in hot ground. You might have to experiment a bit to get the best results for the ground you are working in. Using this technique my Pro P has no trouble finding a 2gm nugg through 1.5 inches of solid ironstone.
To get better sensitivity in neutal ground, turn the pointer on away from metal and place a small piece of metal, 5cts or similar size metal at a position along the shaft of the pointer that just causes it to sound off and then back it away to a point where the pointer just goes silent and hold it in place with your thumb or an elastic band, in doing this you will find that there is a bit more sensitivity.Remember to remove the piece of metal after you turn the pointer off otherwise when you turn it back on sensitivity will be lost as it tunes down to the piece of metal.
