i am considering whether or not to buy a minelab eureka gold
does anyone have this detector and if so would you recommend it for a starter detector

Darcy ... firstly, what kind of detecting do you want to do? Gold? Beach/Park? What kind of areas are you looking at? Are they heavily mineralised etc.? What price range are you looking at?

If you are looking for gold then I would not recomend the Eureka Gold. It is fairly basic and not so easy to use and is quite good at finding Hot Rocks. The detector is fairly expensive but does not perform well in high iron mineralisation.

Not so, in the 60khz setting they are quite good for those who have also mastered the GB2.
Always better off with a $1000 SD2000 than any VLF in the long run..
