Comparing detectors Empty Comparing detectors

Post  bigbear Sun May 20, 2012 7:20 pm

I wonder if anyone has an opinion on detector comparisons. After a fair amount of research I'm leaning toward a White's MXT E Series detector for gold search.I'm finding that the technology in the detector is not as new as that used in some mid range units, however reviews seem to be very good.
Does anyone have feedback on the MXT or MXT Pro E Series?. Should I be looking at another brand?
Any help is much appreciated.

hi bigbear , I have a whites gmt goldmaster which is the same price here in oz the difference being the gmt is mainly for gold , I have been using for a few months now and had success here in tassie with it , having not used a mxt can,t comment , but most people will tell you minelab mate i,d love one but ????????? , but as i,m just starting out I got what I could afford and on advice from a successful friend of mine learn what you have got and you will still find gold
i,d love a minelab but funds do not prmit at this time , if you end getting a whites I can sent you some info on setup for oz conditions, happy hunting mate

Hi Bigbear, if you are going to be going over old ground then you need every advantage you can get. Hate to be out there thinking that you are missing gold because of your gear. I know that minelabs are pricey but I would go for a 2nd hand 4500 as a cheaper option. Cheers. Simon
