what coil is it

hi all my mate gave me a coil to try . coiltek 11 inch no markings on it how do i tell if its dd or momo without putting it on my 4500 also can i test it cheers buck

Cable thickness will reveal the secret, the thicker cables are usually the Monoloop coils and the thinner (twin strand) are the DD's. Also if the coil is old check the upper lid for scratches, if they are to the side then its probably a mono if in the middle then probably a DD. The scratches are formed when the operator is moving soil back and forth on the top of the coil pinpointing a target.

thanks jp both your calls were correct . tested it tonight it seems to be a very senitive coil on my 4500 its great on hot ground and very stable cheers buck

Well Buck, what was your 11", a Mono or DD?

Also I heard when the coil is hooked up, only discrimination will work on a DD and not on a Mono is how to tell the difference.

it was a momo its seems to work heaps better than a standerd minelab momo i tested in a well floged spot and came home with 2 small bits also tryed my 350x230 coiltek momo before the old coil in the same area must have missed them so i am starting to think that round is good cheers buck
