Is The Sun Really All That Hot And Bright?? Empty Is The Sun Really All That Hot And Bright??

Post  adrian ss Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:08 am

The sun shines down on us every day and warms our flimsy bodies and enables us to  exist.
If it is sooool bright and hot; how is it that after blazing its way across 93 million miles of space a thin flimsy layer of cloud can stop its light and heating ability
If the earth was a ball 12 inches in diameter then the region of ground and space that we survive in, build our cities in and fly our planes in  would be an approx 0.0015 inches thin layer around that ball the earth. Ya gotta wonder how we ever got started aye?? pale alien

In the end it does not matter aye?
It does not matter how much money we sock away, which god you believe in,how many clean energy cars we build, how many covid viruses we contend with or how many wars we fight, because our eventual demise is assured and everything we have done and have achieved will have been  totally pointless.  Very Happy YAAAA!
Lets face it; We have been given the gift of life and all we do with that gift is to yell and scream and fight, kill and mangle each other. You would reckon that after a couple of million years on Earth we would have figured out how to live peacefully. But no, not a chance it is never going to happen. Rolling Eyes

G'day Adrian,
The way we are going,i honestly don't think the human race will see another 200 years,so the life of the sun will not concern us in any way  T07

You may be right mate; unless we make some major changes to the way we relate to each other world wide and to our ever increasing dependence on electronic technology.

We have been trying to wipe ourselves out for thousands of years.
The Greeks and Cleopatra had some nifty war ships many were upwards of 40 mtr in length with several tiers of rowers The ships were made of timber  and there were so many of them that they likely stripped the cedar forests bare . I like the flame throwers that they had back then...Nothing is new.

Yes very clever and we owe most of our mathematics to big thinkers back then.

Another quite largish CME eruption from the sun the other day.
https://www.spaceweather.com/images2021/28oct21/cme_c3.gif

If the sun ever went nova we would survive for about 2 hours or likely even less.
Those ejected protons and stuff can get across the distance between the sun and Earth at a speed of roughly 90,000,000 miles per hour and the heating effect from infra red and UV radiation disappearing in just a few minutes we would be little frozen popsicles in no time at all . Laughing
