Far out! I always mix them up. Either way, I wish they weren't there I'm going to just call them bushes from now on!
They're good for nothing more than flavoring my chicken's stuffing.

JW, What ebike options did you get with your Kit eg Brake Sensor, Gear Sensor, USB.... Friend is thinking of a purchase, though in Oz anything over 250 watts is not legal, but if you don't show off, you could be OK.

Re: 15 Inch Concentric X coil Finds
Hi there Peter, My kit came with all that stuff. You will be able to see that it in the photo I showed of the kit I got. The kit comes with cable brake levers to swap out the ones that are on your bike. My brakes are hydraulic so I did have to get some small thing extra. As when you brake & pull the levers it automatically disengages the motor. My kit at the time was NZ$600.

It smells nice when you walk through it. And looks real pretty when it is out in flower. Just a b**tard for detecting among. The green bushes are briar rose & sometimes they are so dense you can't walk through them. Also an example of my general detecting terrain.

Re: 15 Inch Concentric X coil Finds
Hi guys. On Saturday I went back to the same area as those last 9 little bits that I got in my last post. There had been a bit of rain & I liked my chances that I could snag some more because I am a firm believer that the damp soil conditions makes for deeper & better sensitivity.
The day started off a bit dodgy weather wise but by 11am it was looking a lot more promising to I headed of. I wasn’t detecting until 1pm & day was just a stunner. I E-Bike in.
Even saw a little Fellow deer. Centre of photo.
He didn’t seem too spoked & just stood there gawking at me.
I got to my spot & rigged up. Had my first signal in about 5 minutes.
A small piece of gold
Then another signal. You will notice the old timer piles from the ground they had turned over.
Another small bit of gold
This particular signal was damn deep. The scoop is 12" long.
for the small size of the gold
Just crazy depth for that size coil on that small bit of gold. This was my 6th little bit.
I was going to call it quits on this last piece as it was starting to get dark but I then got another. I ended up with 7 little pieces for just over 1 gram. All small, but no catch & release.
Cheers.
Good luck out there

Good one. I was wondering where the Fallow deer was until I scrolled down one photo and there he was.
They taste great but you'll have a hell of a time carting that out on your bike with your detector as well. LOL.
Regards Axtyr.

Hi Mitchel, I usually put my captions above the photos & not underneath. So you read the caption & then see the photo, rather than the other way around. I have never confest to being the sharpest tool in the shed, but maybe just a tool.
As already mentioned on another thread I went back to the above spot on Saturday just gone. Was a late start & I was rushing my detecting, which I don't like to do, & consequently got a skunk. Was a beautiful day up there though. Note the rock formation, Schist tor, towards the top right. Looks like a little Pokémon figure wearing a helmet looking towards the left with the helmet shading his eyes. It is amazing the figures you can see in the Schist tors. Especially in the silhouette light/shade of late afternoon/early evening. That can be a post all to itself.
The neatness & extent of some of the stacked rocks to get to the very bottom of the gully by the old timers, blows me away. I would say this was done by Chinese. They were renowned for their neatness. These pics were taken back in January 2016 when I had my eldest & youngest sons with me & took them up to this spot. The bottom right of the pic is a pathway that they created that is also formed with stacked rocks & it goes down to the gully bottom & was likely their wheelbarrow access pathway to bring the rocks up & out of their way.
Brent was using the 2300 & got on to a shot gun pellets graveyard here.
Aydin was the only one to score a small piece of gold using the GB2.
I got a skunk that day as well with the 4500. I was using the Coiltek 14" Elite coil.
After my skunk on Saturday I went to a local spot close to home for a late afternoon detect on Sunday. I am pretty sure I had not had the Zed in this particular spot at all & that was mainly due to grass & growth conditions not being favourable for the ML 14" coil. This area is now under development so it was now or never. Luckily for me the growth was next to nothing & was actually the best detecting conditions since I was last here years ago with the GP 3000 when drought conditions had dealt to any growth.
I was also very surprised at the lack of rubbish only getting one .22 bullet head & a .22 shell casing & one or two shot gun pellets.
15" concentric X coil, High Yield/Normal & full max sensitivity.
First gold signal down in the bedrock schist.
Bloody tiny
This coil just blows me away.
2nd signal, same result. Only my phone died on me. But I got a few pics of the area.
I ended up getting 5 little bits. Just crazy for this size coil.
Good luck out there

Hello , kiwijw. Great photos. I know the gold is small in NZ, do any old records say how much gold the old timers recovered from workings such as you have photographed? Were they just making wages or reaping the occasional bonanza?

Re: 15 Inch Concentric X coil Finds
Thanks guys for the feedback & comments. llanbric, The local spot where I got those 5 has extensive workings & so some must have done very well. While it is known that that area was worked quite thoroughly, which is evident by the old workings, my research has not stated any records of who got what & how much. The spot up in the hills was very rich in patches lower down in the main gully. That is documented. While gold is pretty scattered over a very wide area there is not much said about how much higher up in the places I was detecting. Lots of worked ground & those stacked rocks wouldn't have been done for nothing. There are lots of stacked rocks like that in numerous gullies in that location. So some good gold must have been present but nothing mentioned about it. Except that the gullies were worked by ground sluicing by water being brought on in small shallow ditches that were brought down the spurs between the gullies & feed off either side to work the ground into the gullies.
