Yet another Newb

Hello all, thanks for letting me join the forum.

Absolute newbie based in suburban Melbourne - interested in gold prospecting, love being outside in the bush, have a 4WD, not doing this to make my fortune, but have had a life long interest in gold prospecting. Having an excuse to get outside is the primary driver - once we see the back of this damned pandemic. I have been very lucky to have seen a lot of Australia (& the world) in my working life.

Have not bought any books or equipment yet. Thinking of a Minelab Equinox 800 and will see what happens if I can master how to use it - still researching.

Tips/advice appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Ozvino,the lockdown down has slowed things right down and I'm sure you and many hundreds of prospectors are champing at the bit to get into the bush.
As we always say ,plenty of info on the forum,read; research and take your time in choosing the right weapon[detector].

Don't just limit yourself to detecting I started back in the sixties panning rivers and creeks lot of fun and just as rewarding
