Re: Weekend tiddlers
FUNNY OLD DAY, I got sucked in by camouflaged hoop iron that was placed in a sapling, geez it gave a nice deep signal,it took me a couple of minutes to work out that it wasn't in the ground!!
[just like the old beer can someone has placed in a stump], gets me every time
so I wandered around the bush for a couple of hours with out any luck, then it was time to head home, and as fate has it I get a faint signal close to the car, low and behold
a point 7gmer,this happens quite often to me that I park on /near a tiddler, [THERE MUST BE A WORD FOR THAT, wander for kilometers then find the gold near the car??]
Any way you have to laugh
green bag in second picture indicates where the point 7gmer was found distance wise from my car.

Re parking near gold
On one of our trips north of Meekatharra I parked the ute near where I had found I bit the year before
my wife and myself geared up and I did my normal thing of heading off looking for new ground. After about 1/2 hr my wife called on the 2 way
to come back to the ute, she had found a 2gm and 5gm sun baker which were both close to the ute. I left her to her ground and wandered off
again only to be called back once again, this time she was holding a 90gm piece from the same area. Things got serious then and out came the chain to
start gridding. Over that day and the next we took 30 ounces, the largest 90 gms down to sub grammers and all within 50 mtrs of where I had parked the ute.
Cheers

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Thanks hoffs gold & pete, Strange little piece was the point seven, found amongst some old buck reef, no real indicators, no quartz shed just baron looking reef,
has me a little excited, could be a little more kicking around.
The point 7 gmer was detected under/through a rock maybe 8" thick

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Very nice nuggies there moredeep. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
I’ve lost count of the times that has happened to me when I’ve gone for a big walk out from the vehicle for zilch and then found a nice nuggy with in a few meters from the vehicle on my way back.
Cheers.
Mike.

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Got out today to forget about this crazy world of ours,Popped on an 8" ?15/20 yr old super gold search coil that me old mate jack gave me [rip]and checked out some areas close to some power lines.
Wow what a change from swinging a 14 "coiltek, this little coil danced amongst the rocks and bushes like Rudolf Nureyev and sang quite nicely on these tiddlers.
pinged half a pull tab well over 30 cm deep, very impressed.
I'll continue for a while with this mighty little coil.
Cheers moredeep

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Nice finds there moredeep. That little old coil brings back some good memories for me with my first find with it on the SD2000 was a .5gr bit at a depth of 8” and sounded like an oz lump, it screamed so loudly. Thanks for sharing your finds.
Cheers.

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Thanks mike, the 8" sat in the shed for several years covered in dust until yesterday.
The depth and sound on sub grammers as you said is incredible ,will stick with it for a while.
May not need an xcoil after all
cheers moredeep

Re: Weekend tiddlers
We all know that not one coil can perform the best towards finding everything, but & regardless of age, there's always one coil produced/made, from every major coil manufacturer, which has the tendency to offer the best all round, power to weight ratio (so to speak) in performance, combined to ones detector. Finding that right coil which gives you the best all round performance/advantage for the job at hand, has always been the tricky part. Well done on the gold finds moredeep.

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Thanks kon,I just want to inspire every one to get out into the bush ,be it sub grammers to chunky nugs, it's good to be part of the hunt.
I now have 2 coils of choice ,I do get lazy eh but [that's Qld talk ].I usually leave the same coil on for many months at a time mainly because it's finding gold and I hate changing coils
cheers moredeep

Thanks GG, I will keep posting on weekend tiddlers for a little while yet; unless I have a bad w/end that is
I think that sub grammers are the new norm now [in vic] and we shouldn't be ashamed to show them off in public!!

Re: Weekend tiddlers
Proud indeed. Any tiddler found, on any an given day, in any gold bearing locality, can only be a good day.
On many an occasion, it was through the finding, of the odd rare bit of gold/tiddler, that led me to bigger & better tidings. So yeah, be proud of the tiddler
Cheers Kon.
