G'day Lylowe.

Handles hotter ground better than the Gold Bug 2.Has an iron ID meter which is almost fool proof for distinguishing iron targets from alloys or gold, grunting out on iron targets, plus goes slightly deeper than the GB2 on gold nuggets,say,1gm and above.Just remember, its a top little unit for working shallow slate beds, and excels in the tiny gold, but only in low to medium mineralized ground conditions.Still no match to a good pulse detector, for quietness and depth on most ground conditions.

Cheers kon61.

I don't have a white metal detector. what I got is an Underground Gold Treasure Metal Detector with 3.5 Meters Depth from detectorall. Not a famous brand, but it is works well. Well, metal detecting is far more difficult than you guys think. Besides owning a good metal detector, the most important thing is that you should be very patient. Because you will find much more scraps than treasures.

Our two bobs worth,
The wife has one as we were after a light weight vfl machine to compliment our 4500.
It is good at finding small gold, fine lacey type gold (specimen gold dust held together) and anything nugget wise over .2grams. She has not used headphones that came with it as have had no reason to. she does use nokia external amplified speaker from time to time.

Downfalls, We agree with kon61, highly mineralised ground is more trying and you learn to be patient and take your time. Yes, it picks out hot rocks, try the magnet test and then still hang onto target and smash or run 4500 over it like we do.
We are also still learning the in's and out's of machine but has proved a very capable machine for us and has found enough to pay for itself a dozen times plus. We have been using it in northern WA and cannot complain about it.
Only issue we have had is possibly faulty coil which agent in victoria has assured us will fix or replace when we can get it back there. (cannot touch ground or spinifex as false sounds). The larger coil we also purchased with GMT has been good, prehaps not quite so sensitive, maybe a good thing of us.

Was intrigued by that underground gold treasure metal detector with the 3.5m depth, so looked it up:

"The Underground Gold Treasure Metal Detector with 3.5 Meters Depth has good ability of wide detecting scope, accurate orientation, good discrimination ability, easy operation and so on. It also has the function of distinguishing ferrous and non-ferrous metal. It is mainly used for detecting and identifying underground metals and it can be used for security inspection, public security organs ransack, scanning metal foreign matter in raw, fuel and foods, scanning metal articles in mail or luggage, detecting underground pipelines, cables and so on. More detailed information is at detectorall. Come and add one to your chart!"

I think public security organs ransack means police searches!  Classic.

Had a poke around the vendor's site, and you can even get this:

"Want to gain an excellent device to make your road of hunting for gold easier, and do you know how many haven’t been discovered gold in the world yet? then you can have a look at this Long Range Minelab Gold Detector, which is a twins with GPX-5000 Popular Gold Detector from Australia and owning this equals owning the gold and you can become rich just at one night as it can help you to find gold immediately indeed. And to see is to believe!"

Rich in one night? Have to have one now.

That is a deep seeking detector. What size targets to get below a metre? Cheers
