2100 messing up

Recently I purchased a 2100 and took it out thew first time to Clermont and pout a borrowed new 18x11 DD on it and it would not see anything underneath it except the top steel lace hook in my boots.
So I out the 8" mono on and it worked fine
The next weekend I went out again and out the 11" mono on and it started alright but by about lunch time it started to not see my test nugget anymore.
Put the 8" back on and it seemed to work ok again.
Difference between this trip and the first is the volume seemed to be about half.

It has an extra knob on the back which seems to be connected to the tune pot and was figgity as a fly on the adjustments.

I got jack of all the stuffing around the thing was giving me and found what looks like burning where the resister was put on the cap, as well as my balance selector switch only has the common wire left connected to it.
As you can see 1 of the crystals is missing altogether, and there is only 1 wire left connecting the balance selector switch into the circuit.
definitely looks like who ever did the mod to it was a backyard job









Does anybody know someone who can repair this cheaply so the missus doesn't find out about it being stuffed?
As minelab have passed the buck claiming they don't service this model anymore

Sorry, just letting off some steam there BrisJoe. Send a PM to Mechanic here on the forum and explain your situation and he'll possibly be able to help and give you a rough quote. Not too many other options and he's very good at this sort of work.

Brisjoe, Mechanic is your man. He helped me with my SD2000 after I stuffed it up and he should be able to get it working for you or guide you through it. If you don't get a response immediately don't worry as he is away. Should be back soon though.
