Hi 2Dan, I think you'll find that the GP series coil is a DD coil. Generally speaking, the 45k that you have will run great with the 11"Mono and that's what a lot of people use and you probably will only use the 11"DD (GP Series) when and if you want to use the discriminator in a trashy area. Generally, DD coils do not get used very much as they do not have anywhere near the sensitivity of a mono coil on small gold, but they are quieter in heavy mineralised ground and they are able to be used with the discriminator.

Most of the earlier Mono's were marked as such 'Mono"
The DD's were not marked.
There are some older coils doing the rounds selling as DD's when they are in fact Mono's
A simple rule is,
If the Cable is perfectly round then It is a “Mono “ coil, If it has two flat sides & two round sides it is a “DD” coil.

Ok great , thanks for the info ....yes your correct the coil wire is slightly flat on either side. never would have noticed.

I have 15 x 12 commander DD ...do you think it would go deeper than the 11" mono on say 1g plus...generally speaking?
