Learning to navigate at present,on all fronts, have a great detector i believe from all reports(GPX5000) but have absolutely no experience in using it,read the manuel a few times ,read gold gem & treasure for interesting articles and anything else I can get my hands on. Am heading to Vic. soon to have a go,have looked at Doug Stones Gold Prospecting book & will probabley head to where they have found lots of nuggets in the past. I am near retirement and loking forward to spending some time in the bush I am gratefull for all the help I can get Regards gt.

Most will regard the 5000 as the best

You should do well in vic
Maybe do a training day
As this will help you
If you bought your tecta new
You should get one free from Minelab

There is some good detecting in qld
Claremont , long gully I think
And plenty more areas
I haven't done much research for up
There
But I'll get around to it one day

G'day gt and welcome to the forum.. .. There is a lot of good information and people on this forum.. You will find the John Tully maps also very handy for detecting in Victoria as well.. Yes you are right the 5000 is the top of the range metal detector on the market.. I wish you good luck in your prospecting adventures and if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask...
