The Barking Dog
Quite an interesting piece I thought. I found this on the Monday after the Laanecoorie bash and was with Big Fella and Two Bob (thanks guys). At first it weighed 3.4g but after cleaning (quite a lot of dirt) it is now 2.7g. It is very rough and I was wondering whether it could be considered crystalline?
Hope it works now....

Re: The Barking Dog
Cams what a nice looking nugget mate it will clean up nicely with acid for a few days to get rid of any iron stains, and then into some house hold Bleach. That will bring up the quartz really white. Stick it in for 6-8 hrs.

Thanks for the comments everyone, appreciate it.
Will do as you suggest Wombat, it has been in acid for 30 hours, I took it out to see how it was going, I didn't know about the bleach trick.
I'll clean it up more and post another picture, won't be till next week though.

Re: The Barking Dog
Sweet piece Cams. Great find, especially after our big donut on Saturday afternoon. Looked for you Sunday morning but there wasn't much movement at your van. Chloe was a bit disappointed she didn't get to see Shaylee (sorry if its spelt wrong) to say good bye.
Hope to see you another time.
JR
PS I found a tiny little piece (0.23 g) on my way home near Dunolly.

Is a pity we didn't catch up on Sunday, we were a little late getting up, I decided to go on the trip with Jim at the last minute. Shaylee was a bit disapointed as well not seeing Chloe or Shay, another time for sure. If I attend next years bash, it will probably be just Shaylee and I.
We will be in Maryborough over the Queens weekend, there is more gold there for me to find + I'm going to try and get my dad to find his first bit.
And well done picking up a bit on the way home.
