ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Hi guys, Back down in my beloved Central Otago. Went out into some old gully prospect digs from the early 1860's with my GP 3000 & joey mono.
Total for the day
Good luck out there

Re: ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Hi Kiwiji,
Very nice land mate, love the look of the photo. By the way bloody good effort with the 3000, just imagine what you could find with a 5000 and a 6" to 8" coil, I bet you would triple your nugget ratio.
Go for it

More NZ Otago Gold
Thanks guys for the comments.
Well I went back in the weekend to a similar area with the same kind of prospect diggings.
Managed these little suckers.
I take note of the comment "Imagine how many more you would get with a GPX 5000"
I would love to try one just to see what it would get that my 3000 mightent be. We dont have the highly mineralised ground that you guys have. I can always run a mono without any issues unless I get too close to an electric fence or high voltage powerlines.
This weekends gold was found using a Nugget Finder 12 X 7 mono.
Also found these nice little specimens.
Close up of the bigger one
Good luck out there & happy hunting

RE: MORE NZ OTAGO GOLD
Hi kiwijw. Great finds and photos. Thanks for sharing your success. Did you weigh them?

Re: ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Hi there Hey Presto, Yes weighed them. Just over 5 grams all up for the lot. So not much weight. The bigger speci was just under 2 grams. I actualy did better tonight after work with 7 grams. Will put pics up tomorrow of that lot.
Cheers

Thanks Mike, I would really love to find where those speci's are coming from. They dont look to have traveled very far but dambed if I can. The boys from the Golden Triangle videos sure gives me inspiration & hope.
Cheers & all the best to you out there.

Re: ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Whacko kiwijw! You've done better with your 3000 than most of us on our later models. Don't change a thing you're doing, and don't waste your money on a newer model. You're finding fantastic fine gold. Well done.

Re: ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Hi there Goldsniff, Thanks for those words. Funny you should say that. I was looking to
up "grade" to a 4500 a couple of years ago & a few people said to me that I shouldnt bother due to our quiet ground & the extra cost there wouldnt be much advantage. Also I know the 3000 inside out & the learning curve of a new machine seemed very daunting. The 3000 suits me just fine but it would be interesting to try a later model. I do know that 4500's have been over the same ground but I am still pulling gold off it after them.
I went out last night after work for 3 hours & got 9 bits for just under 7 grams. Again I was using the 12 x 7 NF mono.
I find night time the best time to detect. No solar influence. Detector runs nice & quiet. With a headlamp on it is so much easier to concentrate & focus on the ground you are covering with the beam of light shining up only a small amount of ground at a time. Makes you cover every bit with the coil & nice & slow before moving on. No stone left unturned.
Here is the flip side of the bigger speci I got in the weekend
Happy hunting

Re: ANZAC Day Gold - NZ
Please don't rub in your excellent finds with your 3000 too much kiwijw. Your 3000 is finding smaller bits there in Kiwi-land than most of us find over here with our complicated GPX's. For your own curiosity, maybe you could invite someone from over here to bring their GPX 4000/45000/5000 so you can try it out sometime? Then we could all learn about the differences between countries and between detector capabilities.
