Ashley, my 1st choice is where I got the 4.44gm nugget a few weeks ago (story in another post).
Hi Hotrock, both nuggets were found at pretty much the 13" mark (I carry a tape measure in the backpack, just in case).
I really don't want to turn this into some sort of political arguement Wombat, but I think what has happened to GullyHunter is that he has removed himself from the forum. He's the type of bloke that doesn't mind sharing his knowledge and even his locations and had absolutely no problem with him finding a 2oz piece and me finding the bigger 5oz piece within a very short time and close area. He was genuinely happy for me and wasn't irate that my piece was bigger. He is that way with everybody and has and would help anyone that asked him for it. He is an all round nice guy and sincere fellow and always willing to share his videos and stories, not in a "look at me, I'm better than you" sort of way, but in a "look at what I found, look at the area, look at the rocks, look at the soil, look at the slope, you can find this too" sort of way. I know he is upset with himslf for incorrectly editting the video (he rushed it cause he knew I was BUSTING to see it), but then to have a particular member turn around and basically say "hahaha I recon I know where you were and it's not enough that you share your joy with everyone and show members that there still are bigger nuggets out there, if your lucky enough to come across them, I'm going to tell everyone and f^#@ it up for you, and I'm going to enjoy ruining it for you"! Wombat and to the other probably 98% of goodhearted members on the forum, do you blame the guy for getting upset? GullyHunter has offered his kindness to his fellow members once again, and been severly kicked in the mouth for it. He can blame himself for the editting but you just wouldn't expect a good fellow member to point their finger and laugh at you. That's where you draw the line, as he has done, and say enough is enough.
I can feel his disappointment, and I for one like I'm sure so many more members, will be much the poorer if his decision is final and is not able to be swayed back to return to the forum. I am not the only one that he has helped with even something as simple as by the encouragement I've recieved from so many of his videos, alot more than any help or any wise words I've received from the 1 or 2 members that were so quick and got so much joy out of belittling him.
Glen's motto was "share the wealth" as you might have heard on the video before it was removed, referring to my find being so close to his, before he has had time to even turn his detector Even on again, what's the motto these 1 or 2 guys go by? "Each man for himself and don't give a f%$# about your fellow members". I know who I'd rather share my time with.

PLEASE COME BACK GLEN

G'day CostasDee

Thanks for your post and I and certainly most would echo your words on here I reckon. Glen (gully hunter) has given unselfishly of his time putting up posts and plenty of videos in the past for everyone to enjoy.

I to would like to say, PLEASE COME BACK GLEN

An editing mistake was made, its not the end of the world, and I hope Glen can see that after awhile, and its a hobby to be enjoyed and to have fun with your mates. Everyone makes mistakes and anyone who says they haven't has not done much I reckon.

cheers dave

I think Gully Hunter has a heart the size of a mountain for letting you detect that nugget so close to his. An unwritten rule amongst my detecting mates is if one of us gets a good find, the rest give him room to work `HIS` patch until he is satsified he has worked it to the best of his abilities.
I dont know the situation that day,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,thanks to Glen of course.
Gold does funnyn things to even the best of mates.
Lets hope Karma pays Glen a visit and rewards him justly.

Finaly a point that seemed to have been lost amongst all the back patting, I could not agree more with Gus. GH good nature and generosity is well documented from past posts and videos. To share a find like his with mates is great but as Gus pointed out what happened in the excitement that followed definately goes against what we would consider that unwritten law.
Ive been out with others, shared in the excitement and more often disappointment of a dig but ALWAYS respected that someone has the right to the area in which they dug to continue their search as the same courtesy be returned to me.
I too hope GH is justly rewarded for his good natured generosity which unfortunately does seem to have been taken advantage of and for the wa#%er who posted the map in his short bright career as a comedian a little tact and discression. Rubbing salt into wounds is no way to treat a fellow prospector.
I look forward to more of GH vids and reports if he chooses to return to this forum.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks CostasDee for your reply about GH. I don't think I have ever met Glen but he seems to be a real nice guy who would share his success with others, not only by taking them to his sites, but also sharing by video. I thing he is a bit like me as I don't mind sharing my spots as well, be it private property or crown land that I have found gold on. I have taken some fellow prospectors from this site to a spot that I had my eyes on. Where now there has been over 40 nuggets found, all small but gold all the same. I look at prospecting only as a hobby and there is still plenty of gold out there for us all, only if you look hard enough. I enjoy this hobby and seeing other enjoy it as well gives me great pleasure. So I hope GH will re-consider his decision and come back.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Costas and and the retelling of the story certainly gave us food for thought in relation to the area and detecting in general. It was a first rate experience we would all like to enjoy.

Good luck to you, Glenn and others in your group and may there be many more finds like this one. Glenn has proved an inspiration to many prospectors in sharing his story and his video so whilst he has left momentarily, he can be sure that 98% of members have appreciated what he did and these are the members he should think about not the minority
