Just got one of these. Do they work? Any losses occured when you have used one?
They seem to be great in theory. I am planning on test panning a few areas, i thought this might be the go, before i drag and set up the sluice 800m from the car thru thick scrub....
I recall reading a mod quite a while ago, with carpet added or finer mesh i think it was...

Do they work? They do but I have never been a big fan of that unit, I would rather use my pan for testing. Sorry mate. cheers

Add 3 drops of cheapo washing up liquid to the water to break surface tension and allow
the micron gold to settle otherwise it will float off.

Re: Mini Gold Concentrator
Cheers Pete. My plan is to carry this, and find waterholes up semi dry creeks where theres not enough water to sluice. Panning kills my back, and from the looks of it, i can run much more material thru this, hence covering more ground in a day. One area last week was over 2 grams in a 20 litre bucket, so this little baby should pay for itself in about an hour or so..
Will do some front yard tests tomorrow, to learn the right technique/ speed etc for 100% catch rate.
Also testing the property we are negotiating, this should save setting up the sluice 100 times. I need to grid 2.2klmx5klm.. Thats gonna be fun over a 2 week period..

Re: Mini Gold Concentrator
Quite a few blokes over here use em to Loam up areas before they bring in the blower
or banjo, thats the good thing about being able to fill em up and carry em out in the dry.

Re: Mini Gold Concentrator
From what I can remember, They were brought out about 20 years ago, the idea at the time was to reduce concentrates! Now people seem to be using it, shovel full of dirt to end results? If such an item existed, the whole world would know about it!

Re: Mini Gold Concentrator
I bit the bullet recently and bought a Cresswell mini concentrator.
I have trouble bending down or squatting to pan so hopefully this will help. Cheap enough considering what some equipment is going for. Purchased direct from the factory.

Re: Mini Gold Concentrator
Good on yu for giving it ago OldMogo. Pre washed materials I can see working very well, however a shovel full of hopeful's straight from the ground will turn your clean water into soup within minutes if not seconds! I can envisage a couple of Teflon pads around the inside top edge of the outer drum a well designed bracket with a windscreen wiper motor doing the work, a hose fitting for water inlet about 2/3rds the way up and a outlet pipe close to the top of the outer drum! Stand back and watch it do it's thingy?
Cheers
Chris
P.s. I Could well be wrong.

I must agree they are a lot of work and your back must be in good shape.

Not really because you can sit down on a stool. Panning for me is much more painful unless I can sit at the waters edge.
