You need a set of wings and a grader blade so it can fly there and dig it up for you.
Thinking about it that may be a little way off yet maybe on the gpx 8000

You'd more likely see a GPX-5500 before a 6000 appears.

I don't understand why you would want all the switches and dials and things on the side of the detector against the operator? and besides if you detect left handed it would just a complete pain, or are you thinking there should be a RH/LH model

No m8 I not having a go at ya. I see what your getting at now you want the control box rotated 90 deg with all the dials etc on what was the side, now to become the back.

Re: deleted ???
With todays technology, why cant it just have an on off switch? Even no on off switch, just voice command,,, detect ON !!! Find gold!!! No thresholds etc, just a beep when your on the target... Yeah yeah i know buttons and knobs are fun to adjust and flick..... Maybe i have been watching too much star trek... I do use voice command to run my PC when i get lazy,,, saves pressing the key board...

Re: deleted ???
Do you think they will one day make a detector that only makes a noise when you are over gold only and is silent on everthing else like junk and ground noise, mineralisation,
l'd be willing to pay heaps for that

Spot on, i have tried bogene's settings and it makes you wonder.
For those of you who have walked around in cancel for half a day, imagine walking around with it not turned on and not knowing.
I believe that Nero is right and we will see a 5500 before a 6000 and I hope that is right, I for one will not be buying a 6000 but would go for the half model.
Why is everyone always so keen for the new model to come out? Aren't you guys finding anything and need something better
I am happy with what I have I bet there are operators out there that could use a 3500 and detect the pants off half of the 5000 users....Its not all the detector.

Too true Goldstalker. I still have great admiration for the 3000 and the 4000.

Re: deleted ???
Some day Minelab or some other mob will work out the DNA's of gold, silver, and copper and incorperate it into a detector that you can turn it on and switch to any one of the 3 and it will only find that item. All other things like mineralized soils, hot rocks, and rubbish metals will not be detected. It will come some day.

Re: deleted ???
Gday Shiraz,
I like the way you have the control box set up mate, but having it lengthwise, wouldnt it be constantly hitting us on the hip during the swing?
Maybe just fatten the original up abit...say 6-7inches thick instead of the 4 inches it is now.

With the release of the 2300, I think it likely they'll wait till next year now.

Re: deleted ???
Sorry Shiraz, I think the switches up front and screen on the back works pretty well.
With the switches on the front, you can easily adjust them without taking your arm out of the holder; like switching from General to Custom (eg. Pin Pointing) or Tracking to Fixed or Special to Normal; lots of things are easier with them up front.
Also having rotary knobs for Rx and Sens means they wouldn't be digital and would need to be carefully tucked away so they don't get changed accidentally.
I hope ML get the machine working better rather than fart around with cosmetics.
I really don't care BT Headsets - more batteries to worry about (still some ppl seem to like them);
and GPS - I've already got one with maps, etc. Don't want to pay for a fancy screen and more knobs to work it.
