Re: equipment cost
$80 sounds cheap, I paid $68 for a new 4 pin curly about a week ago. I haven't bought skid plates yet but they must be cheap.

Re: equipment cost
Outa the 4 curlies I've got, only one is heavy duty and it wasn't the new one. Just did some checking, if I'd also bought 2 skid plates for the 14x9 coiltek ellip mono and the coiltek 16" round mono, I would have spent $120.50
Won't say where in Perth, I don't want to run down someones business but from what I've just seen, things are definitely cheaper in the East.

Re: equipment cost
This fellow is selling skidplates for around $20-30.

If they are just tough plastic I am sure you could make your own, might not look as nice but they would do the job.

Re: equipment cost
Gday
Prices for some gear from the East might be a bit cheaper but by the time you add postage its all about the same, as far as power cables go they are easy enough to make yourself, I have the heavy duty curly cord for the 4500 but prefer the straight type, I bought one online for about $45 delivered and made another as a spare.
Things like skid plates for the nuggetfinders are $25-30 dollars, and if you are not a scraper of the coil, they last for some time so thats not so bad, its all about wear and tear and how you look after your gear as well.
If you source any part from a shop that is not an agent for that particular brand then I have found that you will generally pay more for it so its always worth doing your homework and shopping around for the best deal, there are two prospecting supply shops in Perth, five minutes apart, easy enough to check them both out.
cheers
